Our next feature is all about travel and life in the desert for a fellow pinay blogger. Love her photos. Check her out:
Name: Jane
Location: Dubai
Blog: The Desert Life
How did you start blogging?
I was introduced to blogging when I was 17. I used to write about acads, random thoughts on growing up and a few of my adventures.
Seven years, four blogging platforms and five sites later, I began The Desert Life as my online diary of my Arabian adventures. I started it with one reader in mind – my mother. There were a lot of things that I cannot tell/express with an overseas text message. Through this blog (and aside from skyping), I get to share with her the lessons I learned, the places I reached and the beautiful things I discovered.
What do you write about?
Mostly about living in the emirates – nice places I visited, restaurants I’ve tried and sometimes, the latest happenings in the city. I write about my travel tales, too.
Any tips for new Bloggers?
While it feels good to help your readers by sharing your experiences, sometimes we tend to overshare things not only in our blog, but even in social media. This makes one vulnerable to invasion of privacy and identity theft. You are responsible with what you share.
What are the challenges you face with blogging?
Time. First, I have a very demanding day job. Second, I’m a self-confessed couch potato and I love spending my free time catching up with my favorite TV series (emphasis on the ‘s’). It’s something I couldn’t get out of my system :s And lastly, in between work and TV, I have a few personal projects on the side – at the moment, it’s planning for my wedding. ☺
What do you do outside of blogging?
I work as a landscape architect in an engineering consultancy firm.
Blogs you recommend my readers should read/follow?
I love reading Pinay Travel Junkie’s blog. I also follow celebrity blogs’ like those of Patty Laurel, Rica Peralejo and Bianca Gonzalez.
3 Random Facts about you
- I came to Dubai for work at the age of 21.
My travel bucket list includes Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Israel, basically the Fertile Crescent.
I don’t know how to eat with chopsticks.

Hey there! I’m a mom of two who loves to crochet. Balancing work and motherhood is crazy, but I handle it with love and humor. With my eldest entering her tween years, the chaos just got a whole lot more interesting!
I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.
Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.
