[This is part of our US trip in March. We are currently in Dubai as of this posting]
Las Vegas, Nevada
03.24.15
We left our temporary home base in Las Vegas to go to Hoover Dam. It was about an hours drive via I-215 E and US-93 S.
We stopped to take photos at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The parents also needed to stretch their legs so we happily obliged. 😛
There was a bit of a hold up going to the access road so we had to make some changes in our plan. Instead of doing the guided tour. we just decided to cross over to the Arizona side and take some photos.
Hoover Dam
formerly known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam situated in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. It is in the middle of the border of the state of Nevada and Arizona. Crossing another state made me really happy!
Look at that water level!
If there’s one thing I regret, it’s that we didn’t make an effort to go to the plaque marking the state line between Nevada and Arizona. That would have been a good keepsake, a photo showing me on two different places at the same time.
Before heading back to the strip, we had to make a quick stop to a shop to buy A’s brother a hoodie that he requested. We had our late lunch there and then went back to Wynn Las Vegas Casino Resort to watch the show.
Le Reve
Le Reve or The Dream in french is an aquatic and aerial acrobatic show which debuted in May 6, 2005. My sister booked everything so I’m one lucky sibling!
There are at least 90 performers in this production and all of them must be scuba certified before performing in this show.
Voted “Best Production Show in Las Vegas” for an unprecedented five consecutive years, Le Rêve – The Dream welcomes you into an exciting and mysterious world inside an incredible aqua theater-in-the-round. From a thrilling high dive to an underwater tango, the stunning performers and breathtaking aerial feats of strength and agility will mesmerize you from beginning to end. You’ll be sure to notice something you’ve never seen before in this liquid, and ever-evolving show.
The parents enjoyed the show immensely, as much as we did. Although there are some parts I found a little bit dragging, the parts where they do death-defying stunts definitely compensated for it.
We went back to our hotel after the show, had dinner and gave B a bath. Then we left her with the parents while A and I went down to the casino to play some slots.
I mean, seriously, we should at least try, right?
Of course we didn’t win anything. We only did it for the “experience”. We didn’t even know what we are doing. Haha!
After about an hour, we went back up to the room and started packing our stuff. We needed to leave early the next day to go to Red Rock Canyon.
Hey there! I’m a mom of two who loves to crochet. Balancing work and motherhood is crazy, but I handle it with love and humor. With my eldest entering her tween years, the chaos just got a whole lot more interesting!
I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.
Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.
