I must really be living under a rock! When I opened my blog roll today, I noticed that most of the photos are similar (nail polish with tiny beautiful beads on them). I asked myself, is this the new trend? Of course “I” didn’t know so I googled some more.
Apparently, about a month ago, Ciate announced that they have the next big thing in nail art. Caviar Nail/Mani.
Soon after the announcement, nail bloggers started to DIY the look. Any nail polish / nail art lover would definitely try to recreate this mani….I’m sure I would, if I had the time (hehehe!)
Here’s the kicker, Ciate sent out a Cease and Desist letter to bloggers and they want the term Caviar Nails / Caviar Mani removed from the blogs because they (Ciate) is trademarking the term. (Really?) But wait, there’s more! It seems that Ciate is not the one who “invented” the Caviar Mani. It was nail technician Pattie Yankee and the Dashing Diva team. They did it for a fashion show early last year!
ohhhkeeey!
My take: Caviar Mani is fun! I think it’s a win. But I will not pay for AED 105 (about PHP1,200. Retail price is GBP 18!!) for a bottle of polish and some micro beads. I can get them very cheap and the steps are not very hard!
Check out The Swatchaholic for more. I really love the nail polish community!!

Hey there! I’m a mom of two who loves to crochet. Balancing work and motherhood is crazy, but I handle it with love and humor. With my eldest entering her tween years, the chaos just got a whole lot more interesting!
I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.
Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.
