I’m a social networking whore. I mean, I used to be.
I am now reformed. LOL.
It started with….if we’re going to be really really accurate, MSN chat. Then I moved to Yahoo, ICQ, and lastly mIRC. Then came along Friendster and Myspace. I also have accounts in hi5, multiply, yahoo360, skype, tumblr, twitter and plurk. Although most of my accounts are just for stalking. =D
Why do I have all of those accounts? Most of the time I just want to try the “newest” thing. But one thing I never do is put my “real” details in these accounts. I’m very conscious with what I put out there. It’s so easy to get information in the internet nowadays.
Have you tried “googling” yourself? I won’t be surprised if there is somebody out there pretending to be you! That is why I deleted all my accounts. Right now, I only have facebook and multiply (for my e-store). And also twitter (advertising purposes and to get the newest scoop) and plurk (which is exclusive for my friends only)
So what’s my take on social networking sites? It’s a great way to meet new friends, reconnect with old friends and long lost relatives, advertise your stuff and get information in almost anything. But we must be careful with what we put in our accounts/news feeds/statuses. Not everyone is interested in your break up or what color of panties you are wearing at the moment. (Although, sometimes I’m guilty of giving “too much information” too, nobody is perfect you know.)
In this age and time, privacy is still very important.
This is my entry for our blog carnival topic this week.
Hey there! I’m a mom of two who loves to crochet. Balancing work and motherhood is crazy, but I handle it with love and humor. With my eldest entering her tween years, the chaos just got a whole lot more interesting!
I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.
Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.

Hi, I didn’t know that chat/messengers are also considered social networking sites. Now I know. 😀
I haven’t done a Google search on myself until someone placed a comment on my guestbook saying she loves my cats. Back then, I was NOT a pet lover. Turned out a cat lady named Lorna Dahl from the US has her own website. Kalurkey!
I notice that most people regard their plurk accounts as too personal. Unlike Facebook and Twitter that allow us to do marketing, Plurk is really about immediate release, no? Cool emoticons pa. 😀
