During my family’s visit last April, we decided to visit the capital – Abu Dhabi. I asked my cousin to look for a good place to stay (read – affordable!). We were a big group so we needed a big place to stay in. The plan was to stay for one night and then go back to Dubai the next day.
After our swift tour in Old Dubai, we went straight to Abu Dhabi. Since we don’t frequent the capital, we relied on my Waze app while my cousin kept calling us to give us further instructions. We finally found my cousin waiting for us outside of Majlis Grand Mercure Residence.
They were very nice to let us check in late … like really late. The process was very quick. Once we got our access cards, we went straight to our room because we were really done for the day!
Living Area and Kitchenette
But here’s the thing … the moment we stepped in our room, we immediately decided to stay another night! I called reception to tell them that we will be extending because … why not?! The room was so huge and clean that we were instantly relaxed. We all agreed that we deserve one more day of “luxury”!
The Living Room has a flat screen TV, telephone, a small work desk, 2 single seats and a three seater.
Tip: You can turn the sofa into another extra bed!
The kitchen was fully equipped with induction stove, toaster, electric kettle and microwave. Plates, cutleries, pots, pans and other kitchen items were provided. There’s also a working washing machine which we used since we only had clothes good for 2 days stay!
The Room
Two Bedroom Suites are spacious 80 sq m rooms with one king bed room and another room with twin beds. Each room has flat screen TV, telephone and built-in cabinets.

Bathroom
There are two bathrooms in the two bedroom suite. Both has a decent sized toilet and bath complete with toiletries and clean, fresh towels. There’s also a telephone inside the bath as well as a hair dryer.
We loved everything about our stay in Majlis Grand Mercure Residence that we went back there a couple of weeks ago to spend the Eid break. This time we stayed at a 64 sq m one bedroom suite. The amenities were the same except there’s only one bathroom and of course it is a smaller room.
Health and Wellness
Majlis Grand Mercure Residence also has a fitness center complete with bodybuilding and gym equipment as well as a pool, jacuzzi and sauna. They also offer professional spa/massage services for total relaxation.
Food and Dining
They have a restaurant – Mezzahto, which is at the rooftop serving mediterranean and arabic dishes as well as a French café at the ground floor – La Brioche. They also have room service in case you just want to stay in.
However, since there is a fully functional kitchen, we decided to cook our own food. Good thing there are grocery stores nearby. There are several restaurants and fast food within the vicinity so you have a lot of food options.
I highly recommend Majlis Grand Mercure Residence when in Abu Dhabi. For more information, you may check their website, and Facebook Page.
