2015 has been a good year for staycations. We’ve managed to stay in hotels for a whopping number of 7 times (including out of country vacations). Three of those hotel stays were within the UAE. That’s huge because we don’t do that. Ever. Blake thinks we are going to stay in a hotel whenever we are out. 😛
Last year, we decided to spend Mr. A’s birthday at Millennium Airport Hotel in Dubai. It was really a no-brainer. We wanted a place nearby that has a nice pool and good food. We have been to Millennium Airport Hotel several times for brunch and pool access so we know this is where we want to spend the weekend. I used my Entertainer app to get 1 extra day. Win!
The hotel is just about 5 minutes away from the airport itself. I expected a basic business hotel room. You know … a bed, a toilet and bath. I was surprised to see a well equipped, modern room.
The bathroom was spacious and well-kept. Nothing fancy but they have a bath tub and a separate shower area. The toilets were not separate though. I prefer to have toilets to have separate doors so you can have a peaceful shower/bath without anyone doing their “business” in the area. LOL
The room has with flat screen TV, work area, chaise lounge and a huge comfortable bed.
After checking in, B and I went down to have a dip in the pool before it got dark.
It was a wonderful bonding time for us. B is a water baby. She loves swimming. I would love for her to develop this and be a swimmer someday so we get to bond over the same sport. 🙂
After a while, we went back to the room and ordered room service. We had fish and chips coz B doesn’t really eat anything aside from fish … and chips! We watched TV till she fell asleep in my arms. I waited for Mr. A to arrive from his business trip in Malaysia. He arrived just after midnight so we got to blow candles on his cake!
It wasn’t my birthday but I was the one who got a gift! He bought me this Pandora charm in Malaysia which I now wear everyday as a pendant.
Next day, we had brunch at Gozo. We used the Entertainer app again for this (but we got billed for B’s plate soooo, we didn’t really save anything, I guess).
After brunch, we went back Oasis Pool and Bar area again.
We ordered room service again for dinner. Watched some TV and went to bed. Next day, we were too lazy to do anything so we just stayed in bed till time for check out (we still had cake so breakfast was sorted easily!! HAHA).
It was a fun weekend. Short but perfect, in my opinion. I got to spend time with A and B, we got to relax in a huge bed, swim in the pool, got served food without having to think about the dishes! LOL. Best thing is that we didn’t have to go far. Our house was just 15 – 20 minutes away.
Millennium Airport Hotel is located at Airport Road, Casablanca Street, Al Garhoud, Dubai, UAE.
