Hey, It’s Been a While!
Hey everyone! It’s been ages since I last shared a story here. Grab a seat and let’s chat about the wild ride I’ve been on lately. Get ready for some ups, downs, and everything in between!
Dreaming of Big Bear
Picture this: Spring of 2022, my cousins and I were stoked about our upcoming trip to Big Bear. We were craving some nature time, you know? Fresh air, tall trees, and a break from the daily grind. We couldn’t wait to hit the road and unwind for a bit. It took us weeks of planning and coordinating the whole thing. We had to make sure everyone’s schedules were aligned, we got the cabin sorted and paid for.
Covid-19 Strikes
But then, just when we were packing our bags and getting hyped — bam! Covid-19 decided to crash our party. One of my cousins tested positive a few days right before we were supposed to leave. We were bummed, to say the least. It was supposed to be the first of many getaways, I felt like the universe didn’t want us to push through.
Rolling with the Punches
So, what did we do? We didn’t let it get us down, that’s for sure! We put our heads together and came up with a new plan. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to switch things up and salvage our getaway. Who knew we were so resourceful?
First thing we did was to inform our host, Avantstay, that we have someone in our group that is sick and that we might not push through. They were very understanding and offered to credit back our payment and use it when we are able to. They also gave us two years validity so there was no pressure. Talk about customer service! [Tip: be transparent and honest, it goes a long way!]
Next, we looked for a different host that could accommodate a smaller party in such short notice. Luckily we found The Grey Chalet. So instead of a party of sixteen in a big manor, we settled for a cabin good for seven.
Making Lemonade
And you know what? Our scaled-down trip turned out to be pretty awesome. Sure, it wasn’t what we had in mind originally, but we made the most of it. From low-key hikes to cozy nights in our rental cabin, we had a blast and made memories that’ll last a lifetime. (I’ll talk about this beautiful rental in my next post.)
Looking Back on Our Journey
Looking back, I’m grateful for the unexpected twists and turns. Yeah, it wasn’t the smoothest ride, but it taught us a thing or two about resilience and going with the flow. And hey, isn’t that what life’s all about?
What’s Next: More Adventures Await!
So, what’s next? Stick around and watch out for my post about our rental and how we redeemed our credit two years after! More stories and adventures, all the ups and downs. After all, life’s too short for boring stories, am I right?
Hey there! I’m a mom of two who loves to crochet. Balancing work and motherhood is crazy, but I handle it with love and humor. With my eldest entering her tween years, the chaos just got a whole lot more interesting!
I’m fueled by coffee and dream of working from home. When I need to chill, I turn to my trusty essential oils. They’re my secret weapon for staying sane in the madness.
Join me for mom life, crochet, and my journey to work from home and retire before life passes me by.
