If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you probably know that we got our non immigrant visas to the US. This means we will be visiting my parents soon!! (BTW, if you’re not following me on Instagram, why not?? You should! hehe). I thought I’d share my experience on how to apply and collect your visas.
How to Apply for Non Immigrant Visa
- Go to Online Non Immigrant Application website.
- Select United Arab Emirates (Dubai or Abu Dhabi. We applied in Dubai.)
- Click Start Application and fill in the form.
- Once finalized, you have to submit and pay the application fees. (160 USD)
- Select appointment date through Official U.S. Department of State Visa Appointment Service.
- Show up on your designated appointment date.
You can check Frequently Asked Questions here.
On Your Interview Date
- Be at the Consualte/Embassy early, if not on time. Here is what to expect on the day of the interview.
- Dress appropriately
- Bring all your supporting documents and be ready for the interview.
- Answer truthfully
- If you are granted a visa, they will give you a pink slip. This is NOT your visa. This is just a notice that your visa is approved and that you can collect it after 3 days.
- If your application is denied, do not create a scene. Leave the premises with dignity and try again after 6 months. 😀
Here is a map to the US Consulate in Dubai
Hope this helps and Good Luck!!

Sir safe po ba magapply ng US visa ngayon? 5 years and 5 months na po ako as Quantity Surveyor with AED10k salary in a Construction Company. May kapatid po ako sa US at dito sa Dubai. Last July 2019 rejected po ako sa visa application, kaya nag travel po ako ng South Korea, France, Netherlands and Norway the following month.
Alvin | AB&Me says

I also have visited more or less 10 countries like Netherlands, France, Belgium,Spain, South Korea, Nepal and others for the lest 5 years. I just have a few questions, hope you can help me.
1. i was adopted when i was young so i don’t have any documents to prove that she is my Mom but can i declare her as a Relative/Aunt instead? Also, we have pictures together in our social media and she visited me here last Dec 2017
2. Can i also ask her to provide an Invitation Letter?
3.Is declaring my annual leave of 30 days as the duration of my visit be an issue? But i am planning to request for NOC from my company declaring the dates of leave.
4. Lastly, Do i have a good chance of getting a US Visa?
Thank you so much in Advance Sir Alvin. God bless!
Sheila | A B & Me says
Hi, Sheila here.
Based on what you wrote, it would seem like you have a pretty good chance of getting that visa. However, there are no guarantees.
Regarding your adoption, it’s best that you present what you currently have, legally. Opening this topic will just create more questions and probably will prolong the process.
You just need to go for it and be prepared. Good luck!

Hi Alvin!, I’ve been working here in Dubai for almost 2 years now. I’m planning to use my annual leave to visit my sister and her family who is now a US citizen. I have a 4K AED monthly salary. About 3 years ago, my US visa application got denied in Philippines. I do have savings since I have been working for 5 years already. I ‘ve been to HK, Macau, Thailand, SG. Do I have a good chance of getting a tourist visa?
Alvin | AB&Me says
What was the reason you were denied in the Philippines? Based solely on your current situation here in Dubai, you have a good chance of getting a tourist visa.
Febie says
Hi, ask ko lang po. San ba mas okay mag apply ng visa? Dito sa UAE or sa pinas na? UAE residence visa holder po ako. Problem lang passport ko is with company and nakukuha lang kung naka annual leave ka. So to save time, nag pplan ako sa Pinas na kumuha ng visa, pero kung mas hassle and less ung chance na maapprove dun edi dito nalang sa UAE.
Thank you!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Una sa lahat, your passport is owned by the Philippine government, It should not be with your employer. It is illegal for an employer to keep your passport. You may file a complaint with Ministry of Human Resources and Emiritisation (MoHRE) “https://www.khaleejtimes.com/legalview/does-your-office/-keep-your-passport/-in-/uae-heres-/the-law–1-12-”

Hi Alvin & Shiela,
I’m so glad to have found this blog. I’m today researching for procedures and insights about going to the US. My sister is currently confined, under a serious medical condition. This is my reason of going there. I have read that this can be a reason for visiting the US and that I can even request for an emergency interview appointment. However, here are my worries and status – I am under my husband’s sponsorship (hubby 8 years here, myself and kids only 17 months, visa expiring in July 2021), stay-at-home mom, my 2 kids are schooling here in Dubai, apartment under his name, car under his name. All papers is under his name but it’s me who will be travelling. I don’t want to waste money and time if there is a very slim chance. I was hoping to get your inputs.
Many thanks in advance.
Anna
Alvin | AB&Me says
Based on what you have stated, it seems that you have strong ties to UAE because your family is here. If you can present proof that your sister is hospitalized such as a medical report or admission slip from the hospital, you have a good chance of getting a visa.

Hi! Me and my friend ahad an interview yesterday at the US consulate. It was my first time applying and my friend is her second (got rejected 3 years ago). Luckily I was granted a US visa but my friend was rejected again. Is there anyone here whose parents or siblings stayed illegally in USA but got their B2 visa application approved though they have immediate relatives in the US who is an illegal immigrant before getting their US citizenship? Thanks a lot in advance for the feedback!
Alvin | AB&Me says
I don’t think anyone would publicly share the information you requested, but lets see.
Kiamy says
Hi! Just want to ask if you applied through agency? Thank you
Alvin | AB&Me says
No. It is better to apply in person. The agency will only tell you the process and what to write on the application form, which you is already available on this blog and many other resource on the internet.
Ruth says
Hi, I got denied in the Philippines year 2013 for tourist visa. My problem is during the interview I lied that I’m a nurse and told them I’m a HRM graduate. I’m wondering if that will make an impact since I’m currently working as a nurse here in UAE.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Having lied on your previous application makes your intent to travel to US questionable. You will be required to indicate that you were previously denied and you will be asked why you did that. Your current circumstances will be reviewed to assess if you are a legitimate a tourist or if you have other intentions for your travel to the US.
Ruth says
This scares me. Can you advice a good reason? The only reason I’ve been thinking to answer is I’m desperate during that time. But the truth is it was my family who taught me how to answer and advised not to tell that I’m a nurse.
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have to tell the truth. You received bad advice, you regret doing that and that you have learned your lesson. Its never a good a idea to put false information on a visa application.
Jpiats says
Hi Alvin and Shiela,
We want to apply as a family. Been here in the UAE for 13 years, 8 years in the current job, Salary AED20k+. Been to Australia, South Africa, Egypt (Business trips) and Singapore on few occassions. Savings around 50k+
My husband however, was on visit visa from 2014-2018. But he was working in her before that. I was able to get him under my sponsorship in March this year.
Do you think we have a good chance?
Thank you so much.
Alvin | AB&Me says
What is your husbands employment status? do you have kids that go to school here and do you live in a pre-paid rent apartment whose lease is under your name? If your answer is yes to the last 2 questions, the first one should not be a problem at all. However, be prepared to answer the question what has your husband been doing while he is on visit visa for all those years.
Joanne says
Hi Alvin & Sheila.
My husband and I with our 2 kids are planning to apply for a US tourist visa. My husband is currently working for DU Telecom main office for 3 years now (5 years in Dubai). His salary is above 13k+ plus allowances. I, on the other hand, is under husband visa but working for a freezone company as an Administrator for 5 years now (6 years in UAE) with 6k salary. We will visit my husband’s relatives in California and Illinois (Grandmother, Uncle, Aunt and cousins). They are all US citizen.
My husband and I have traveled to Prague, Netherlands, France, Italy, Austria. Traveled as a family to Georgia, Armenia, Hong Kong and an upcoming travel to Greece this year. I also traveled alone to South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Singapore and Malaysia.
We have a car and a flat under my husband’s name.
What are the chances of us getting a visa? Should we ask for an invitation letter if this helps? Also, should we tag along our kids for the interview? Kids under the age of 14 do not need to be present but maybe being present would help?
Thanks in advance for answering our queries.
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have a good chance of getting a visa. It will be even better if your kids are going to school here in UAE. An invitation letter would help. As you mentioned, kids under the age of 14 do not need to be present. Kids under the age of 14 being present at the time of interview would not improve your chance.

hi alvin, hope you are doing well. i am planning to apply for a US visa and will stay with my friend who is inviting me. 7yrs working in UAE,as a Clerk, below 4k aed po ang salary. Been in France last March. Thank you in advance.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Depende po kung yung 7 years is with the same company, Depende rin sa company, kung malaking company mas malaki ang pag asa na ma-approve.
Gnehb says
Same company lang po for years Sir.
Alvin | AB&Me says

hello, I just recently fill up an application form fo US non-immigrant visa, however Im unsure that I skip a to add more companies I worked here in UAE, I just declare one company- the present one. Would that be an issue on the interview? I applied for single traveller. Thanks in advance.
Alvin | AB&Me says
It depends on how long have you been in your current company. If the visa from your previous company is stamped on the passport that you are submitting, you may be asked why you have not listed that previous employment.
Pinxie Dust says
Thank you for the reply Alvin, I tried twice to go back and edit the form (although I previously signed & printed the initial application form) however, there is no option for me to declare my previous company history and even the countries I traveled, I dont know if its a browser issue or what, but the form directing me to security questions after the current company. I called the US embassy and mentioned, and they said that I can just create a whole new profile again. While Im scrolling down on your blog I found out that Permanent Residency question should be tick as a yes, unfortunately I remembered I put it as does not apply. Im scared now to go back retrieve my application and create a whole new profile again to rectify it as this will be my 3rd time editing it 🙁 I feel like its a bad sign for me I have a confirmed schedule already coming up this Sunday. Would this be a ground for my application to get denied. Your thoughts pls. of editing it again. Thanks in advance.
Alvin | AB&Me says
It will not be ground for denial as long as the information provided is correct and true.
bentetrissssss says
Hi Pinxie. We have an upcoming interview on November 3. In our DS 160 form , we answered NO to the question if we a re a permanent resident of another country. Working in UAE will not give you a permanent residence, only RENEWABLE residence IF your current employer is willing to renew your visa. So how did the interview go?
Sand says
I am a silent reader of this blog, and i must say all the Q&As here were really a big help in our application..
We have been recently approved for US visa (first time). 🙂
Husband (6yrs in Dubai), 2 yrs in current company Mechanical Engineer-Construction, Me (7yrs in Dubai), 7months in current company,Admin Assistant in a Holding Company. With us is our 9month old baby.
Below are the officers questions (random):
Why Will you go to Us?
Where in US?
Is your aunt a citizen?
Other place to visit aside from California?
How much do you make?
What do you do?
What does your company do?
Other place/country u visited?
Where in Italy?
When will you go to the US?
You’ll come for thanksgiving?
She didn’t ask for any of our documents. That’s it, visa approved. .
Goodluck!

Hi!
I am planning to visit the US next year, maybe around September but I am planning to apply online on March (my 33rd birthday). I’ve been in Dubai and I am working as an Admin Assistant in the company for 6 years + (6th year last March). I am getting AED 4,300/month and by next year, maybe I will have around AED 12-15k savings.
I have traveled to SG (2014, 2016, 2017), Malaysia (2014), South Korea (2016), Indonesia (2017), Thailand (2018), Cambodia (2018), Vietnam (2018), Armenia (2018), Georgia (2018). And planning to visit Azerbaijan before 2019 ends.
I do not have immediate family in the US however, I have a cousin in Texas but my trip will be in Las Vegas, NV for around 2 weeks and to California within those 2 weeks. I will be staying with my best friend throughout my stay but I will not request any invitation letter. But my question is, should I declare that I will be staying with a friend or it’s better to just say that I will stay in a hotel?
Do you have a chance in getting a Tourist Visa?
Gee says
Do “I” have a chance in getting the visa?
Alvin | AB&Me says
It is now required to declare social media profile for visa application, You have to declare where you are actually staying, They will be able to figure out that you plan to stay with your best friend and that you have a relative in US based on your social media activities. You do have a good chance of getting a visa provided that you work for a good company and that you are still working for that company at the time of application. Please be truthful in your response to all questions in the application form and on the interview.
Gee says
Hi! Thanks for your reply. That’s actually correct. Thank you so much for the advise. I will update the status once I start with the application.

Hello Sir,
Thank you for the informational blog and making time to respond to queries, me and my colleagues are planning to apply for a US visa at the same time, we are planning to book our tickets and hotel reservation as a group booking as well. Currently we are working at a multinational company with decent salaries and savings. My question is, does the occupation or position that is stated in the stamped residence visa be a huge factor for approval?
Many thanks and more power!
Anthony
Alvin | AB&Me says
The details on the visa stamped in your passport should match that of the salary certificate issued by your company. Any discrepancy will raise doubt regarding the authenticity of your documents. All your documents will be cross-checked against each other to determine the authenticity of the details. Ex. the salary that is going into your bank account will be checked against your salary certificate. If you are receiving more or less you will be asked why and you should answer honestly.
If your job title in your visa is different from your salary certificate, you will again be asked why, if needed they will verify your document by contacting your company.
ANTHONY says
Hello Sir, many thanks for your prompt reply. The main issue is some specialized positions in the company aren’t registered in the labor’s list of jobs. My colleague was promoted after a year of service due to restructuring hence the position in the visa vs actual role is not matched. But then again if this is justifiable it will be just fine. Many thanks again for having the time to answer and helping fellow applicants get that pink slip. More power and God bless!

Hi Alvin, your blog is really helpful. i am planning to visit my family in usa (father, mother & two brothers) this coming September 2019. I am currently preparing all documentation in anticipation of what the consul might ask. (salary cert, employment certificate, 6 months bank statement). currently i dont have any saving here in Dubai but has another account in BDO – Phil (DOLLAR ACCOUNT AROUND 20+K). Does it necessitate me to transfer this amount to my debit card here in Dubai UAE or, i have an option to get the past 6 months bank statement from the Phil. I am only receiving a monthly salary of 7.5k from the company – AL FUTTAIM and has been working there since 2013. I have my two kids studying here. Unfortunately, i haven’t travelled since 2014 to any country even back to our home country. Appreciate your advise should i have a big or small chance of obtaining a US visa considering all the aforementioned scenarios. Thanks in advance for your advise
Alvin | AB&Me says
You don’t have to transfer your money, you may submit the BDO bank statement along with your other bank statement. You have a good chance since you have been working for reputable company for more than 5 years. Are you travelling with your family?
wyne says
I have applied alone though i am not sure if i will arrange their application to travel with me. if travelling with them gains more advantage, then, that would be a better option as well.

It is better to apply together.

Sir,
Quick question. I renewed my passport already and the new issuing authority is Dubai UAE. I have been getting the below pop up message after completing the passport/travel info page. Can you help me on this one? Now on that page it says Country/Authority that issued passport is UAE and Country/Region where issued is UAE as well. I’m now confused. Please help
You indicated that the country or authority that issued your passport (or travel document) is different from your country/region of origin (nationality). If this is incorrect, please change it below.
Alvin | AB&Me says
The country that issued the passport is Philippines, It may have been issued here in UAE but it is only place of issue. The authority that issued the document is still the Philippines.
K3N says
Sir,
Sorry to bother you again LOL. So in the form, the answers should look like the below if I renewed my passport here in UAE.
Country/Authority that issued passport : Philippines
City were issued: PCG Dubai?
Country/Region were issued: Does this refer to where the passport was issued (UAE) or still the same as issuing country which is Philippines?
Thanks in advance,

Hes with the company for 1 year now and been in dubai for more than 7 years. We have 1 bedroom and just renting a car, no kids yet. I always wanted to apply US visa and same time skeptical whether its now the right time to apply. Should i bring him again during my interview or no? Any advice would be appreciated in terms of the probability of getting successful application? Thanks a lot

He will not be allowed to enter the embassy/consulate if he is not an applicant himself. You should only bring him with you if you were asked to. You may ask your husband to make a letter supporting your application and along with that his bank statement and passport copy.

jen
Alvin | AB&Me says
Would you be able to state the reason why it was denied? The usual reason is you may not have sufficient ties to the country, it means that you do not have enough reason to return to UAE after your intended trip. Does who do not have sufficient ties are high risks to overstay. If you can make a solid case that you plan to return to UAE; it may improve your chance.

If you are new in Dubai, it may mean that you do not have sufficient ties to ensure that you will return here. Chance of getting a visa at this moment is low.

You don’t need to make any confirmed bookings. Your chances of getting a visa will based on how much you can prove that you have enough reason to return here in UAE (Ties).

We’re going to apply tourist visa as a family me, wife and daughter on coming May 2019. Our intended date to travel to the US for 2 weeks will be on July 2019 during my daughter school break. Our plan is to visit Los Angeles (Of course Disney and within places) during our first week then second week will be in San Francisco in the place of my brother in law (wife sibling us citizen) but we will not gonna stay in their house as we preferred to stay in the hotel so we can freely explore the places by our own itinerary as usually did when we visited some Asian and European Countries.
Questions:
1. What does it mean in DS-160 question to relatives information is your father/mother in the US? what is the correct answer for this since that my wife’s parents are green card holders but never go back in the us and settled already in the Philippines. Do you think this will affect on our application? but we have no any pending petitions.
2. Under Personal information in other Permanent Residence of country. Me and wife are currently working here in the UAE for 12 years already under “Residence Visa” only. Should we declare our residence visa information and EID number as our other permanent residence here in the UAE or should we answer No?
3. During interview is it necessary to bring land titles (under our names) just to demonstrate as well our ties in the Philippines aside from our employments ties and family status here in the UAE. Which is more important and strong ties they’ll be consider, our home country – Philippines or present country – UAE we’re working?
4. Our main purposed to visit the US is to explore the country and having pleasure with my Family during holiday. Meeting with relatives and friends is only our secondary.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts about my chances and hope to hear from you soon… God Bless!
Dadaofsamuelle
Alvin | AB&Me says
If their greencard is still valid, which means they can come back to US anytime, you have to write their names in the application form
You have to answer yes and state that UAE is our permanent residence.
It is necessary to bring supporting documents just in case it gets requested.
Good luck to your family,
dadaofsamuelle says
HI Alvin,
1. What does it mean in DS160 question to relatives information – is your father/mother in the US? Is this a Physical Location of the Father? If i answer “YES” as i want to tell the truth that they have their Legal Permanent Residence but physically they’re in the Philippines for more than 1 year now. What do you think the best answer to this should i say “NO” because they’re currently in the Philippines during the submission of our application?
Thanks for your time!
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have to answer yes it they are a legal resident (greencard holder or naturalized citizen). Even if they are physically outside the US the consular office does not neccessarily know for what reason they are outside the US.

Hello Sir Alvin,
We are planning to apply for a tourist visa as a family (me, my wife and 2 kids). We have our own flat and car under my name. I’ve been living and working here in Dubai for 5 years, while my wife and son are here for 3 years (my daughter was born here in Dubai 2 years ago). I’ve been to 4 different companies in the past 5 years, because my line of work (engineer-construction) is normally project based. My wife is working here also for almost 3 years Can I have your thoughts if it’s better to apply as a family or we’ll apply first (me and my wife) and we’ll apply our kids after we got approval. Also, my I-130 petition is under process (my parents are US Citizen). Do you think it will have a great impact on our application? Thank you and hope to hear from you soon.
Alvin | AB&Me says
It is better to apply as a family, your I-130 petition should not have an impact on your application as long as you can prove that your family intend to come back after your trip.

Hi i have an interview on dec 19. I’m working as an interior designer in my company but in my visa they just put archive clerk since i havent give them my papers yet. do you think it will affect my application? But i have employment certificate already and it mentioned there that i work as a designer and has 8,000aed salary..
And another thing im only 9 months in the company but my olan to visit us is on first week of march during my annual leave. I will be one year by then.
Been staying here in dubai for 3 years now.. but i dont have anything under my name (eg. Cars, flat)
Let me know your thoughts about this..
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your application will depend on the company you are working for. If it is a well known company, you have a good chance, but if it is from less known company, your chance gets lower.
You will be asked why is there a discrepancy in your visa and work certificate. The gap between an archive clerk and an interior designer is quite significant in terms of salary. Your bank statement should indicate that you are receiving 8,000 AED salary.
Please also have your leave dates stated in your certificate, it will prove that your company is allowing you to go on holiday considering you have spent less than one year with them.

Hello sir!
Ask ko lng po un boyfriend ko nagwowork sya sa well known company pero 3k lng po sahod nya for 2 1/2years. May chance po b sya maapprove.
Thanks po
Alvin | AB&Me says
2 1/2 years worth of end of service benefit does not look like a sufficient reason to return. Ikaw siguro, pwede ka maging dahilan for him to return depende kung gano na katagal ang relationship nyo.

Hi, what does this mean ‘Are you a permanent resident of a country/region other than your country/region of origin (nationality) indicated above?’ Permanent residency just like you have a green card in US or canada? Our visa renew every 2 yrs and been living in UAE for 11yrs.
Alvin | AB&Me says
If you are legaly staying in the country/region other than your country/region of origin (nationality) for more than 6 months, you are considered a permanent resident. If you have a valid residence visa in UAE, you can answer yes to that question.

Hello Sir Alvin, me and my partner is planning to apply a tourist visa to US this coming January 2019. I am currently working as a spa supervisor with the same company for almost 7 yrs. my current salary is 5,500 with free accommodation and travelled to Asian countries (japan, korea, malaysia, singapore, vietnam, thailand) and for my partner she is only 1 year in her current company and travelled the same with me . her current salary is 6,500. we would like to visit her auntie as well as my father and sister who is already a citizen of US. Can I know what are our chances to get the visa approved.
Thanks!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Both of you have a good chance because of your salary and it would be impractical for both of you to risk loosing that by overstaying in the US.

Hello po.
I am thinking of applying for a US visa sometime next year. I’ve been living in UAE for more than 5 years now. Worked for a private company for 4 years and currently working for more than 1 year with Emirates Post as Clerk with 3,200 monthly salary. My UAE visa is valid until 2020. I’ve only traveled to Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan though I know it’s not a huge factor. I am also planning to ask my cousin in California if she could assist and send me an invitation.
Can you please advise what are my chances? And how to improve my chances in getting a US visa?
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your chance is low, since you have been in your company for only a year, meaning your end of service benefit is not enough reason for you to return to UAE. If you can prove that you have prepaid tenancy and other properties here in UAE you chance will get better.

Hi Alvin,
I have my appointment on Sunday and I plan to travel alone for Christmas and New Years to NYC (really short notice!) Been in Dubai for 4 and a half years, female, single.
I just joined a new company 6 months ago. I am a frequent traveler. Been to 23 countries the past 5 years. Europe every year 2016-2018. Had a multiple Schengen visa which is now expired.
I’m leasing a studio in under my name. I own a car also.
What are my chances? I’m afraid because of the short notice and having just moved jobs that my chances are slim. Help!
Alvin | AB&Me says
I agree with your assessment, because you have been in your current company for less than a year.
You maybe asked, Will your company allow you to travel considering you just joined. Your chance might improve if you can get your company to issue a letter stating your joining date, salary and leave dates.
It will serve as proof that your company have no objection to your travel plan.
J says
Visa approved!! Just wanted to say thanks for the idea. My NOC mentioned my leave dates, current salary, position and when I am expected to be back in the office.
I also want to share my experience for future applicants:
Questions:
– Why do you want to visit the US? To spend Christmas and New Years in NYC.
– Do you have family in the US? I dont have immediate family members but I have relatives.
– Are you single or Married.
Single
(He asked for my salary certificate and bank records – I gave him my NOC and bank statement. I also volunteered to say I’m renting a studio and I own a car)
What countries have you visited recently? I said I’ve been to 20 countries the past 5 years. Been going to Europe every year since 2016.
How can you afford traveling that much? I said I feel I earn good money for Dubai and I’ve saved for my travels.
That’s it, visa approved.
Note:
I just joined my company 6 months ago, female, single, 29 years old, no family members in the UAE. I live alone.
As long as you are confident, give short but concise answers (dont beat around the bush), you’ll be fine!
Good luck to all applicants!

Hi Sir, hope you are well. I have been reading your blogs and I think I got the right place to ask for my concerns. Me and my cousin and 1 friend are planning to go on tour at US next year around July or August maybe. Just wanna ask our chances of acquiring a US Visa since our salary are around 4000 dirhams and 4500 dirhams, we have traveled around asia only. My cousin has been in UAE for 10 years (she shifted 3 jobs currently on her 1st year in her 3rd job), our other travel buddy for 12 years (a nurse, 2 years on her current company-12k dhs salary) and i for 4 years(on the same company) We have traveled to Korea together last april and we are planning to travel to europe again next year together( Haha so advance no schengen visa yet :D) and then US on August. We plan to travel to NYC for a week. I have a sister in New Jersey, she’s my babysister only 23 y.o. and she just came there recently as an Au Pair. Should I declare that I have a sister? How much do we need in our account for that 8 days? Because our savings are in PH bank. Is it ok to just transfer it on our UAE acc? 🙂
Hope to hear from you! Thank you!
Alvin | AB&Me says
You and your nurse friend have a better chance than you other friend because she has been with the current employer for a year. You have to declare your relative, they will find out about it anyway so better be safe. You don’t need to transfer your money to your account in UAE as long as you can submit a statement of your account in the Philippines. You need to make sure that you will be able explain all the sources of money coming to your accounts.
Sarah says
Gusto ko lang sana itanong po kase nag pplano kami ng husband ko na mag apply ng US visa and probably travel early next year 2019,my husband is an Indian National he been here in UAE for the last 11 years and jumping from one company to other, he is a civil engineer and working as a procurement engineer at Saif Bin Darwish Construction fied about salary he is earning a good amount, likewise i am also working as a Contract’s Admin for the last 6 years in same Construction Company. Do you think our earnings is enough to prove that we are eligible to travel in US and come back in UAE. One more question po, i have some money here in my UAE bank account but its not much huge, all my savings i deposited on my BDO account.
Alvin | AB&Me says
The current salary is only of the factors considered in the visa application. Most importantly than the salary is the end of service benefit that you and you husband tend to loose in case you overstay in the US.
That is the reason that those who have stayed longer in a company have a better chance because their end of service benefit is higher.
How long has your husband been in his current company?
SARAH says
Hi Thank you po, my husband now is running 3 years in his company and i am running 7 years next year, we plan to get a visa by early next year po.

Hi Sir, ask ko lang if may chances ako, my wife and my mom.
Currently living in Dubai for 2 years (me and my wife). Combined Salary of Approx AED 12800 per month. Savings of AED 50-70k. Wife works for Al Futtaim (1.7 Years) and my tenure is currently 1.3 years. I had a previous US visa issued with me last 2012 (Single Entry) and stayed there for 3 weeks.
Recently married in the Philippines (we have a UAE authenticated marriage contract) but she’s still using her maiden name with her official documents.
Travel History – For me: – USA, Israel, Thailand, Armenia, Oman, Hongkong, UAE. For my wife: Malaysia, UAE, Armenia, Kuwait
My mom will visit us for 3 mos here in Dubai. I’m planning to include her as well sa application. Is it possible event for a visit visa holder? We have relatives in the USA that we would want to visit. Approx duration of travel is only 10 days as we have to return asap here in Dubai.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Its not possible for your mom to apply here if shes only on a visit visa. She has to apply from where she is a resident (Philippines)
Where do you work? You have a good chance since you have a previous travel history and your wife works for a reputable and stable company and both earning a decent salary. That should be a good reason for you to return to UAE at the end of your trip.

Hello,
I’m planning to apply for US tourist Visa on November. Is it true that chances are better to apply in Abu Dhabi Embassy than Dubai consulate? I’ve been in UAE for 4 yrsnow, 3 years in my present company. My UAE residency is valid til Oct 2019. Planning to go to NY by March. Been in UK, Korea, Japan, China, Kenya, Georgia and few non visa countries to name a few. Salary is 5000, with 20k+ in my bank savings account. I don’t know anyone in US except for a friend but not planning to ask for an invitation letter as I’m not sure if ill be meeting her too.
Any chances to get my application approved in your point of view?
Thank you,
Lils
Alvin | AB&Me says
I guess its not true because you are supposed to apply where your residence visa is issued. I have seen first hand that an applicant with Abu Dhabi residence visa who submitted his application in Dubai got turned away and told to apply in Abu Dhabi because that is where his residence visa was iasued. You chance depends on the reputation of your company.
Jonathan says
Hi Sir Alvin,
I and my family are Dubai issued residence visas. We were able to apply and was approved here in Abu Dhabi.

Hi Sir I need your advice.
Filipino, 25 years old, living in UAE for three years already. This is my second company already and I’m earning 3500 monthly as a graphic designer. Will I have a chance? I haven’t traveled to any other countries yet. I was invited by my cousin who is living in US and told me he can be my sponsor in papers. My contract in my company will be finished in about 6 months. What are my chances?
Alvin | AB&Me says
You chances are poor, you have to demonstrate that you have enough reason to leave the US and return to your point of origin at the end of your visit. Looking at your situation currently, you have very little or no reason at all to return to UAE.

hello po me and my lesbian partner applied for touris visa last Oct3 but was denied. We apply as separate individual but same contact person in the US which is her Auntie. I been working with same company in Dubai since 2012 and with monthly salary of 5K plus, as to my partner she is working as a nurse and been working for almost 3years in her current company with 5k plus salary also but been here in Dubai since 2013 with previous company. We travel in France & Italy this year with her Auntie from US because she visit us here in Dubai and travel with her in Europe. I have also relative in US but in Hawaii while my partner Auntie is in California.
During our interview I was ask only about my company, years of stay, salary, travel with whom, and where is my family with same question as to my partner.
The consular last message was there is no difference from our previous application last 2014 (denied also). Any idea why? When can we apply again? How can we get a visa for 3rd time application?
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have to apply together, They know based on your applications that you will be travelling together and will be staying in the same place together. The stability and reputation of your company has an impact in your application. If the company is well know and is an employer of choice, it is likely that you will go back to that company. Did your pay show an increase from the last time you applied?

HI, I just wanted to know my case – I have completed my D160 application online and my interview is this coming Thursday. My plan to visit US for Leisure is on March 2019 for 8 days. I am applying as early as now due to company policy that we need to submit our intended vacation leave 3 – 6 months hence as early as now I am applying. I’ve been in Dubai for 8 years now, in my current work 3 years and just renewed my visa last month as an Executive Assistant. I am single and been living with my sisters, we are renting our own apartment. Traveled to Europe (France, Germany, Denmark Sweden,Spain) as well as in Asia (Japan, Malaysia), even to KSA and Armenia to name a few. I am mostly travelling alone and for this trip will be alone as well. just not sure my chances of getting the visa? hope you can advise. thanks.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Depending on the company you are working for and the salary that you are earning monthly. If its a known and well established company and you are making more than average your chances of getting a visa is high.
CS says
Visa approved. Hopefully to get it by 3 to 5 working days at Empost.
The visa officer didn’t ask too much – only asked about my purpose to travel, how many days, what is my work, how many years I am in the company, how long I am living in the UAE, if I am single, and the countries I’ve traveled for the past 5 years. Didn’t even look at my supporting documents but I think they have a way on knowing about you as she’s typing something while asking these questions to me. The interview didn’t even last for 2 minutes as we talked fast then she hands over me the pink paper. THanks for your blog.

Dear Mr Alvin
Just want to know your thoughts about my plan of going to USA next month, first week of Nov to attend my sister’s wedding.
Me & my friend are planning to apply for US tourist visa for 10 days from Nov 1-10, my sister’s wedding is on 3rd of Nov.
Our sponsor is my brother-in-law. He had sent an invitation letter & proof of capacity for the sponsorship.
I have another sister in the US which is already a citizen and living there with her family.
My parents are there too under non-immigrant visas for the same purpose.
I am in AUH for 3 years, earning average amount of money.
My friend, she has a car, flat and well paid here in AUH for her job for more than 5 years.
Me and my friend have already completed the DS-160 and will just have to schedule our interview, hopefully first week of October.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your chance of getting a visa will depend on your response to questions asks during the interview. Your current circumstance being in the company for only 3 years and earning average amount does not work in your favor. Because you have very little to loose if you do not return to UAE. Your friend actually have a better chance because of the prepaid tenancy and car and that she tends to loose 5 years of end of service benefit if she does not return to UAE.
You need to be able to convince the consular officer that you do intend to return to UAE after your intended visit. Good luck to you and your friend.

Alvin | AB&Me says
How long have you been in your current company? Ginagamit din kasing basehan yung potential end of service mo.

If your fiancee is not a permanent resident here, he/she cannot be considered as a reason for you to return here. What you need to show in your application is that you have many reasons to return here after your visit.

– single mom but my son is living in the Philippines with my parents
– been to several asian countries and georgia so far

Alvin | AB&Me says
Previous travel history has no impact in the assessment of US visa application. What is commonly assessed is the likelihood of an applicant overstaying in the US. As long as your documents and response to questions asked demonstrate that you do intend to return after the duration of your visit, then you have a better chance. Prepare to be asked why are you travelling alone? This is commonly asked for anyone who have a family but wish to travel alone.

Where are you from? your nationality is also one of the factors considered in the visa application. Your responsibility as an applicant is to demonstrate with all your supporting documents that you have no intention of overstaying in the USA and that your purpose of travel is legitimately for tourism purpose only.
You can do this normally by showing documents that prove that you have enough reason to return to the country of origin. Ex, your salary certificate may show that you are better off staying in the UAE, the number of years in service will show how much end of service benefit you tend to loose in case you don’t go back. Proof of property such as a car or a prepaid lease agreement can also be one of your supporting document.

Dear Sir Alvin,
I am planning to apply a tourist visa for US next year 2019.I am single and have been working here in Dubai for 4 years now and currently earning AED 5750. Should i tell them about my mom?
Thank you in advance.

Do you plan to stay with your mother? are you planning to get an invitation letter from her?
You don’t have to declare her as a relative if there are no documents that can prove that you are indeed related.

Hi Alvin …. I’m back from US ….. just to ask kung my idea ka sa Tourist Visa sa Canada, gusto naming familia mag tour sa Canada kaya lang wala kaming relatives doon, by the way d2 kami sa dubai nag tratrabaho…. mas mahirap bang kumuha ng visa compare sa US? may US visa na kami….
Alvin | AB&Me says

Hi! I just want to ask, does your application will be affected if you came to the UAE as a visit visa then found a job here in the UAE? (as most of us do, coming to the UAE as a visit visa to find a job) Will they be suspicious of your intention to visit the US? If yes, how can I prove that I don”t have intention to overstay or find a job in the USA? I’ve been in the UAE for 5 years now and personally I don’t have any intention to stay and live there just tour around.
Alvin | AB&Me says
The visa used to enter UAE will not be relevant as long as you have a residence visa at the time of the application and can prove that you have enough reason to go back to UAE.

OO maari mong ipakita yung invitation mo at supporting documents.

My future husband and I are planning to apply for US tourist visa. In your opinion much better ba na mag pakasal muna kami before magpa interview? or before wedding? and also twice akong na denied sa pinas before I think kulang ang family ties since single ako that time.
Alvin | AB&Me says
OO makikita nila yung previous application history mo. Pero each application is reviewed based on your current circumstance.

All required documents are posted here. https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-AE/niv/information/required_docs
All documents submitted should support the fact that you do intend to come back to UAE and have enough reason to do so.

Hi Alvin,
I son and I already have granted a US visa with 10yrs validity.
When my wife and youngest son(1yr old) tried to apply they were denied.
i am receiving 18,000 basic salary now and my wife have 10,000 total monthly salary.
we been in Dubai for almost 8 years.
My sons are also here, we renting flat and we car.
Is my wife having chance a getting US visa for the second attempt?
TIA
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your wife will have to prove the same as you did, that she has intent to return to UAE. How long has she been working for the same company?
Joel says
unfortunately she got rejected last Sunday again:-(
the interviewer ask if our son have US visa already and she said yes.
then after that not able to get the reason behind the refusal.
They only said you are not eligible im sorry.
She working on same company but this time i transfered her visa under my sponsorship.
can we apply again and try next week or shall we need to wait for couple of months?
thanks
Joel says
on her previous work she worked for 8 years
on her current one 3 years
Alvin | AB&Me says
You will have to wait at least 6 months before applying again. They don’t normally say the reason for rejection, they just hand over a piece of paper.

Hi. Not sure if you can advise. lol. I have a US visa and been to the US 3X already since i got it in 2013. anyway, i got married 2015 and had my baby in 2016. My husband will be applying again (he got denied in 2014 when we were just bf/gf) with my Son and i understand it will be easier to get since it’s a family application. Anyway, my quesion, i was planning to have my Mother join them to apply here in dubai but she is just on Visit Visa- would that be advisable? Thanks!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your husband and your son should apply together and their application form should indicate that all of you will be travelling together.
UAE visit visa holder are not allowed to apply for US tourist visa here in UAE.

Hi Kuya, I would like to ask some questions po, cause I’m planning to apply for a US Tourist Visa after a yr in my job and my stay here in Dubai. I would like to spend my Annual leave in the US and visit my bestfrnd since highschool and to also travel. My Employment Contract is 3yrs, my parents are here in Dubai, i also have aunts & uncles here. My salary is 3500 (w/c is sufficient enough for me as a single 21-yr old) 🙂 Is that enoughy reason for the immigration to be convinced that I will definitely come back here in dxb and not overstay? Also, my bestfrnd will take care of me financially when I reach the US. So only the ticket and visa is on me. Let me know please.. 🙂
Alvin | AB&Me says
You do not have enough reason to return to Dubai, you are an adult and your parents may not be enough reason for your to return to Dubai. Your length of employment and residency in Dubai is also too short. This means that you are not yet attached to Dubai and it would be very easy for you to leave Dubai.
I would recommend for you to wait a couple more years, try Europe first.

Hi po Kuya, been reading your blog.. I just want to ask because I am planning to go to US for vacation hopefully this coming June, and my american friend will sponsor me, ask ko lang mas madali po ba? Been here in UAE for 2 1/2 years na, and wala naman akong plan mag overstay sa US.. thanks
Alvin | AB&Me says
I will be honest with you, hindi madali.

My case is I am an ofw nurse here in Riyadh for almost 4 years in one company. My salary ranges 4k sar. By this year on holidays season I want to visit my mom who is in US now atm gor about 4years she is an immigrant but not yet a citizen. Its it possible that I will be granted a US visa. Are there pros and cons if your goint to visit your relatives? Do I need invitation letter from my mom? Hope to hear from you. Godbless.

Alvin | AB&Me says
It is possible for you to get a visa even when you have a relative. You can indicate in your application form that you will be staying with your relative. It is better to have the invitation letter with you.

Hello!
I applied last year July for a US visa but I was denied. I was only asked few questions like which state you are going to?, are you married?, do you have family in the USA? .. My documents were not even asked. I am Single, i don’t know any relatives in the US (i know some classmates but no communications since graduating from college). My salary was 8,250 AED and been in the UAE for 4 years. I have travelled to Austria, Italy, Israel, Sri Lanka, Georgia, Malaysia and Turkey during my stay here in the UAE.
I wanted to apply again but how i can prove I will leave the US on time? Personally, i dont have any intention to stay in the US, i just want to tour around.
Alvin | AB&Me says
The result was based on your answer and how you answered. If your are married and applying by yourself could have contributed to the denial. As I said many times before, those who apply as a family usually have a higher chance of approval.
The company that you work for may also be a factor in the result.

Hi, I’m planning to apply Tourist/ Visit VISA in US. I am working in Dubai for 5 years in a 5 star hotel but my salary is just a basic of 2100+ 6-10% commission +service charge and monthly tips and individual tips. Accommodation, transport and food are free. I used to work in Europe 5 years ago and been traveling to Switzerland,France, Poland, Germany and Hongkong. I wanted to visit My first cousin which is residence in Turks and Caicos, Caribbean Island And has British Passport and she’s willing to give me an invitation letter. I’m a single Mom of 2(separated) and they’re with my mother in Philippines. Do you think I have a chance to grant my application? Thank you in advance and God Bless😉
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your chance is low if the basis will be your monthly income and fact that you are alone here in UAE, it may improve if you travelled somewhere else during those 5 years in Dubai.

Hey Alvin! I’ve been visiting this blog for a month now and reading some thread of comments. My appointment is fast approaching, here is my situation, I have been working for 4 years here in Dubai as an Executive Assistant and earning AED10000/monthly. Rented a studio flat (under my name) and owned a car. I have been travelling in Asia, Europe and Africa for the last 2 years.I am very anxious if I will be able to obtain a US Visa.
Btw, i just renewed my residence visa last month. Therefore, based on your assessment from the above details I would like to hear from you if this is somehow sufficient to have the visa granted.Appreciate your response. Thank you.
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have a good chance of getting a visa, since you have a genuine reason to go back to UAE such as a stable and decent paying job, a leased property and an asset such as your car.

Visa Approved! Thank you very much. Your blog is big help.

Hello po. May I ask lang po, Firstly, I just recently finished my ds 160 form and saved it. But when I’m about to print it out I found out that it is in arabic language. Can I make a new ds 160? Or it doesn’t matter? Then secondly, are the questions vary depending on the answers? I saw some sample questions on ds 160 regarding previous travel history for the past five years. But when i was doing my online application I did not encounter such thing. How would they know if I’m a frequent traveler, if they will just mainly rely on the form on the interview day without even bothering to ask me? Just wanna hear some thoughts about this. Thank you so much!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your form have to be in English, you can fill in a new application form. Your passport will tell them about your travel history. Questions they normally asks are to determine the true intention of your travel and if the applicant will return after the visit.
kaye says
Thank you so much for the quick reply! 🙂
kaye says
HI! Just got my visa denied! Don’t really know what went wrong during my interview. They just asked me why am i going to the US, any relative there, here in Dubai, how long am i residing here and whether am i single or married. I think she didn’t even bother looking at my passport to look for any travel history since i have traveled far enough i guess, and just merely look at the computer, then just handed me a white paper.
Alvin | AB&Me says
We are very sorry for that, As I said before, previous travel history is not the only thing they consider when reviewing visa application. The most important thing they do is to ensure that the applicant has enough reason to go back to the point of origin.
They review more than just the documents you submit, In some cases they may even review your social media profile.
kaye says
In my case, single, 3 years residing here in Dubai with cousins. What do you think is their basis for them to think that i have a tight bond my point of origin?
Thank you!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Three years may not be enough to form a tight bond to UAE. There are cases where travel history worked against an applicant. Ex. If the applicant is outside travelling to the point that the total duration of travel in a year exceeds that of a normal allowed holiday, it could be interpreted that the applicants work is not that important to the applicant.
The company that you work for and the salary that you receive may also been a factor. When is your residence visa in UAE due to expire if you don’t mind me asking? The other reader AJ got her application approved, working in Dubai for 4 years earning 10000 AED and just got her residence visa renewed.
kaye says
Oh really? Cause I guess I traveled every 3 months since 2016, been to 5 countries then, excluding the Schengen countries last year. My visa will expire on August 2019. Can you advise me, or do you have any idea on what do to change my circumstances cause I’m planning to re apply again but not too soon. Thank you!
Alvin | AB&Me says
You should try and stay with the same company and apply just after you renewal of your residence visa.

May relative din kami first cousins ng dad ko na dun din sa Houston nakatira, do I still need their help on getting approved? close naman kami.

Your application will be assessed independently, however, based on experience and based on what I know from other applicants, you do have a better chance when applying as as family.

Alvin | AB&Me says
No. We do not have a national ID system in the Philippines. The national ID information required in the form is in relation to your nationality.

Choose Business/Tourism Temporary Visitor (B1/B2) only choose Tourism/Medical Treatment (B2) if the purpose of your travel is visit a healthcare facility for medical treatment.

Alvin | AB&Me says
Salary does affect the application.

Happy New Year AB&ME, I’m planning to apply for a US Tourist Visa on my 3rd year here in UAE. I’m single and currently working as an IT for an insurance company here based in Ras Al Khaimah. I have been traveling to Europe every year since I got here. I have my own apartment already but I don’t have a car nor a credit card yet. Do you think I have a chance of getting a US tourist visa considering that I have been a resident of UAE for only 3 years?
Alvin | AB&Me says
Chance of getting a visa depends on how likely you are to return to UAE after the duration of your trip. If your documents show that you have enough reason to go back, it is likely that you can get a visa.
Louie says
Hi Good Morning,
Any Advice po? Thank you
Alvin | AB&Me says
Ang travel history eh makaka tulong sa application, kasi it shows na legitimate tourist ka and likely to return to UAE after your visit to USA.
Kung single ka, you stand a good chance of getting a visa alone, pero kung may pamilya ka dito, mas mabuti kung mag apply kayo as a family.

Any thoughts po sa profile ko?
Alvin | AB&Me says
What institution are you working for, sometimes the company you work for also has an impact on your application. If the company has a good reputation, it means that you are likely to come back to that company. It means that the better the company you work for, the higher your chances of getting a visa.

hello po Sir Alvin,,I have a plan to apply for a US visa by next year, 2018. I’m currently staying here in the UAE for almost 6 months now. Do I need to wait for 1 year before I can apply for a US tourist visa? And if I take my vacation by next year, from Dubai to the USA, then from the USA to the Philippines, is that possible? My auntie is the one I will visit in the US and I will travel alone, do you advice me to travel with someone else or with my friends? I really appreciate your response Sir Alvin. Thank you so much.God bless!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Those who have a very short period of residence in UAE almost always gets denied with the reason stating that the applicant do not have sufficient ties to point of origin. Meaning, the application is at high risk of overstaying because there is not enough reason for the applicant to come back to UAE. Sometimes, even one year of residence in UAE is not enough. Chances of getting a US tourist visa is usually higher when applying with your family.

Hi!
I am planning to apply US visit visa to visit my parents and my in laws as well in Honululu, but I will go alone as my husband and 2kids are there in philippines. I’ve been working here in Dubai for more than 10 years now with the same employer. But I don’t have any sufficient amount in my account as I have loan. But what if my parents will deposit some amount like 20,000 DHS, this will be fine or should I deposit only on small amount on monthly basis?? Anyway my company is ready to give me an NOC, and is it necessary to take an invitation from my parents? Kindly advise. Thank you so much!
Alvin | AB&Me says
The purpose of the bank statement is to confirm that you do have a legal source of income. Its not about the balance amount available at the time of application. In my case, I also had a bank loan at the time of application but we still got the visa. You just need to be able to prove that you do have funds to support your trip at the time of the trip. Sometimes the border control officer can asks for evidence of funds at the time of entry.
The same as my recommendation to other readers, the chances of getting a visa is higher when applying as a family.
Invitation is not necessary but can increase your chance.

Thank You!

Hi Alvin I’ve got my UAE work last August 15 this year. My question will be “Do i need to wait for 6 Months grace period before I can apply for Tourist Visa in USA?
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have to wait a year, although it is not explicitly written as a requirement, many applicant gets denied with a reason stating that they do not have enough ties to UAE. Those who have been in their company for a long time have enough reason to go back to UAE because they risk loosing their end of service benefit if they decide to overstay in America.

Hi. Kuya Alvin 🙂
I have been reading this blog for 5 times now. Keeping my mind set kung ano ang magandang gawin kasi magtry na ako mag apply this January 2018 and my partner and I are planning to visit New York for a week by June. My questions are the following:
1. I have a lesbian partner. Will it be ok to apply together since my hotel booking will be for the two of us? or should we apply separately and have separate free cancellation bookings?
2. Do I have to book our tickets and hotels so I have enough proof that I will only be staying there with the indicated time frame? Or Can I tell the officer that I will book it after a visa is grant to me/us?
Thank youuuu! 🙂
Alvin | AB&Me says
It is better to declare that you will be travelling together. Gender identify have no impact in the application. Advance travel and hotel booking is not required during application.

Alvin | AB&Me says
Applying as a family has a higher chance of getting approved. You can apply for a tourist visa in the Philippines but bring all your documents from UAE. Each passport holder have to fill up the application and declare who will be their travel companion.
Lyn says
My next 30 days vacation will be next year and i will be using that 30days for that US travel if approved. Can i apply the Visa here in UAE and them in the Philippines?
Alvin | AB&Me says
You can apply here in UAE but the likelihood that it will be denied is higher if you will apply as an individual. If you scroll through some of the recent comments, there was someone who got denied when applying alone. She was asked if she have family here in UAE and similar to you, her family is in the Philippines.

Alvin | AB&Me says
You don’t have to travel as per your original plan. You may travel whenever you want as long as your visa is still valid and your circumstances when you applied for the visa haven’t changed. Ex. You should still be employed and residing in Dubai. This is because I know of someone who had their visa cancelled because their circumstance is no longer the same as when they applied for the visa. In simple terms, he can no longer prove that he has no intention in overstaying in the US.
sheen says
ahhhh…. ok…what if nag resign ako sa dati kung trabaho …. tapos na employed ako ng ibang company (Dubai), then that time only ako mag first entry ako sa US ok lang ba…

Like what I said to the comment of Sheen, I know of many applicants who have been denied when they applied alone compared to when they applied as a family. I think its because as a family, you will not risk overstaying because of the welfare of your kids. The risk of a lone traveler overstaying is higher than those of a family. That’s just my opinion.
I do appreciate the way you handled the denial. Its good to have a positive attitude. There is always a next time.

Hi Alvin… or anybody can help me… I already scheduled for interview…. we are here in Dubai with my family pero ako lang ang nag-aaply ng US visa ….. in case na tatanungin ako “why i’m travelling alone”… please give me a strong answer for that….
Alvin | AB&Me says
We cannot give you an answer as only you will know the real reason why you are not travelling with your family. I know of many applicants who have been denied when they applied alone compared to when they applied as a family.

GoodPm! I just have some questions i hope you could help me out. I was denied once for US tourist visa last june 2016. At that time I was only 6 months in my new work in abu dhabi. I am planning to apply again, i have been to Paris, Netherlands and belgium last year. I am still in the same company now ( emirates technology, working as a receptionist. Still single and i just renewed my contract and visa with them ( completed 2 years) I have a loan and a car now also unlike before wherein I really do not have any ties here in UAE. I just want to ask, do you think I have a shot if I will reapply now?I want to go to London to help with the US visa application, but will it matter to them?
Thank you so much
Alvin | AB&Me says
Previous travel history does not really matter, the result of the application is dependent on your current situation. It is always based on the risk if an applicant is likely to overstay or not. However, based on what you have said, you stand a better chance compared to 2016.
Lainey says
Thank u. I can’t find the thread anymore but thank u may God bless u more

Hi Alvin, Your blog it’s a great help to everyone especially who are in first timer applicant. Hi Alvin, I am planning to apply for tourism to Italy… Can i possible from you to have some sample of a cover letter which was you submitted before? as my sample how to do as I’m a bit confused. Thanks and awaiting Please.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Thank you Chona for your appreciation, We do not have experience in applying for visa to Italy, however as a Schengen member state, it probably is the same as other member states where we do have experience on obtaining a visa.
First of all, a cover letter is not a requirement when applying for a tourist visa in any Schengen member state as far as I know. All you need to do is complete the required documents stated in this link https://www.it.ckgs.ae/resources/pdf/tourist-visa-checklist.pdf
Chona says
Hi Alvin, Thank you for your reply. I appreciated. I have another question please. How about, if the person who is in Italy he can sponsor…what are those of documents that he must to obtain in order to submit along with my documents to CKGS, secondly, except from his documents, the one that you send with me in pdf on the checklist shall I have to provide everything for myself (except of accommodation as they wanted me to stay on their house). Thanks and awaiting Please.
Alvin | AB&Me says
If you will have someone else supporting your travel, you will need to submit a letter from the sponsor addressed to the consul or the immigration officer advising that he/she will support your travel. The letter have to be supported by an identification showing residence status. This can be a passport with visa page or a national ID. A bank statement to show capability to support you may also be required. If the sponsor will only support your accommodation it should be stated in the letter.
Chona says
Hi Alvin, Thank you for your favorable reply for me. How about let say.. but who knows just in case…. when you apply and then you got refuse, how long can reapply again?
Thank you.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Its usually after six months depending on the reason.
Chona says
Hi Alvin, as I’m filling with the form, can you please correct me if I may right or wrong what I have filled on the below please.
Member of state(s)destination: Member State of first entry
Turin, Messina, Sicily – Italy ? Italy ?
Since I have the sponsor of my travel my Fiance:
Main purpose(s) of the jouney: shall I thick mark the “visiting family/friends ? OR as Tourism?
P.s. the cities where i have mentioned that’s inside of Italy only just like Dubai (UAE) The country Italy where I will spend most
Alvin | AB&Me says
The member state is Italy.
Based on recommendation from VFS employees, it is easier to apply for Tourism visa as opposed to visiting family/friends as supporting documents to prove relation may be required in some cases.
Chona says
Hi Alvin, on the application for schengen under “pre-paid transport”? what does it mean? it’s a taxi, train ticket or a flight ticket? Thanks.
Alvin | AB&Me says
It could be all of the above if you pay for it in advance.
Chona says
Hi Alvin, Thanks for your reply, as per on the “pre-paid transport” since i have the sponsor, and when i arrive at the place he will spend the transport, so, what if I have only a confirmed flight ticket with me is that acceptable at the embassy? thank you.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Yes, that should be sufficient.

My husband is an American Citizen . Nagwowork sya dito sa middle east as school counselor. Kakasal lang namin this july. At naka husband visa ako dto sa UAE. Balak kasi namin baksyun ng 3weeks sa US para spend ng xmas with his family. Thanks.
Alvin | AB&Me says
If you are married what is stopping you from applying for a US passport?
You have a good chance of getting a visa as long as you and your husband can prove that you can support your travel and that you intend to go back to UAE after your trip.
Kaye says
Because my husband still working in UAE thats why I haven’t plan to apply US passport yet.
Alvin | AB&Me says
It should not be an issue as you have a legitimate reason to visit US.
Kaye says
Hello. We both have no residence visa yet. Dhil sobra bagal ng process nila sa new company nia. Almost 4yrs sa previous company since 2013 . Then this new job since last august. Pwede po ba present nalang letter from the HR to proof nagttrabaho sya dto?.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Kailangan mo mag dala ng employment certificate from the company pati ng bank statement ng asawa mo katunayan na tumatangap sya ng sweldo from the company.
As long as you can prove na tourism lang ang intensyon mo for travel at hindi ka mag over stay, you have a chance na maka kuha ng tourist visa since American naman ang asawa mo.

Hi,
I’m 32 years old and single and would like to apply for the US visa to visit my mom (to surprise her). I’ve been working in dubai for almost 6 years. The problem is she is using her maiden name and my salary as a hotelier staff is not that much, like around 1-2k (+service charge and quarterly bonus) but my company is paying everything (house/foods and transportation). Am I going to be a laughing stock incase I try to apply. Lol not a positive approach but I’m just worried as I am very shy and I take rejection very seriously. Thanks in advance.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Salary may be one of the factors considered in granting a visa, however it is not the main factor. As long as your supporting documents can demonstrate legitimacy of the purpose of your trip and that you will have enough funds to support yourself at the time of travel then you are good to go.
Don’t be afraid to try and apply we are here and our readers can guide you. You wouldn’t know unless you try right?
SHAR says
Hi
I m 40 year and working in Dubai for 12 year and would like to applied for US visa B1/B2 what are the chance of getting visa currently my salary salary 4K
Alvin | AB&Me says
Chances of getting a visa is dependent on other information such as reason for travel. Financial history as stated in your bank statement. Authenticity of documents submitted.
In that 12 years in Dubai, is that in the same company? Chances would be better if that with the same company.
SHAR says
yes i am with same company for 12 year what authenticity of document to submit can you please help me
Alvin | AB&Me says
You should only submit documents that are authentic (not tampered), some applications do submit tampered document to make their chances better, but most of the time get caught and gets banned from applying again.
SHAR says
I spoke to my company about the us visa and they ready to sponsor me can you please tell what are the document are require from my company to get us b1/b2 visa and what my chances
Alvin | AB&Me says
What do you mean your company will sponsor you? Does your company have a branch in US? or it will be mostly financial support and guarantee.
If your purpose is for personal reasons, it is questionable why would your company sponsor your trip. If your are going on a business trip then that is a different case.
Kumar says
The photo that we need to carry for interview should that be same as the one attached online on form DS160. I realized that I dont have same photo in the size required. Abu Dhabi

It doesn’t have to be the same as long as it conforms to the requirement.

Hi!
I am new here in Dubai and looking for a job. I have a multiple entry us tourist visa that will expire in Feb 2018. I have been in and out of the US the for the past years. What is the process here for renewal of us visa?
Thank you.
Alvin | AB&Me says
You have to get a job first and residence visa here in UAE before you attempt applying/renewing your US Visa. One of the condition in the US visa application/renewal is that you should present
Evidence of your employment and/or family ties may be sufficient to show the purpose of your trip and your intent to return to your home country.
Evidence to show that the applicant has a residence abroad to which he/she intends to return at the end of the stay in the United States. This is generally established by evidence of family, professional, property, employment or other ties and commitments to some country other than the United States sufficient to cause the applicant to return there at the conclusion of his/her stay.

And would it help as help to mention that i have recently sponsored my brother to find a suitabke opportunity here. Looking forward to receiving your guidance and would really appreciate it.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your length of service is a good testament that you have good reason to return to UAE because you tend to loose 10 years of end of service benefit if you do not return.
Just bring the documents as stated in the requirements list, invitation letter and or bank statement of the person inviting you if any.

Hi, Good Afternoon!
Im planning to apply a tourist visa by end of this year, is there a big chance n maapprove yung application ko? im living here in dubai for almost 6 years, and im currently working for more the 2 years in my 2nd job and my salary is between 3000 to 3500 aed. and I didnt travel yet in other country. I dont have any relatives in US.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Nowadays, due to recent changes in US immigration policy, it is not possible to assume likelihood of being granted a visa. I know of a colleague who works for an airline with more than 7 years in the company and earning more than you do who have been denied a visa recently because of insufficient ties.
The challenge for any tourist applicant is to prove to the consular officer the intention to go back after the trip.
Kate says
Hello! Thanks for this helpful blog, well, I am planning to apply for US Tourist Visa for 2 weeks to visit my boyfriend there in Kentucky. I am still 21 years old, and new here in Dubai working for almost 1 year and living with my first degree cousin. I am worried about my length of residence here in Dubai, my age, and I don’t have any relatives in the US. I’ve been to Singapore once. Is there any advise you can give me to expand my chance of success? Thank you 🙂
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your ties to UAE is not sufficient to guarantee that you will come back once in the US. It is unlikely that you will be granted a visa but this is just my own opinion based on experience and feedback from other others who have been in the same situation.
The consular officer have the sole authority to decide based on the merit of your application.
Pau says
Hi. I am staying here in dubai for one year now with my first degree cousins, and currently working in a restaurant with a 2 years contract. Our company allows every employees to have a 1 month/30 days vacation after fulfiling one year in the contract. My friend from arizona usa is planning to invite me there and will shoulder all the expenses during my stay there. My friend’s family has a business there and owns a house. Do you think there’s a big chance for me to pass the visa application? Do you think that it’s better if we’ll be going to use the invite option rather than the sponsorship option? Or it is just the same? Btw, I’m just 21 years old and single. Thank you. Your thoughts are much appreciated. ❤️
Alvin | AB&Me says
The success of your application for visa depends on the likelihood that you will leave the US and return to your point of origin at the end of the duration of your trip. The consular officer will review your documents and evidence of your circumstances to assess how likely you are to return to your point of origin. If they assess that you do not have enough reason to go back to your point of origin, it is unlikely that a visa will be granted. That is why applicants who have stayed longer in their work, have a property or have a family at the point of origin are likely to be granted a visa than a single individual who have very little ties to the country of origin.
Kate says
Thanks for the response sir, well in that case, I was planning to apply for Schengen Visa first, which I heard more easier compared to US visa, and visit Germany this December (if I got approved). Would this increase my chances in getting US visa if I already tour around Europe sir? or what if I applied Schengen this July and got approved, then consecutively apply for US visa on August even thou I haven’t yet departed to Europe (supposedly on December)? Make sense? hehe Thanks,
Alvin | AB&Me says
It is much easier to get a Schengen visa, however, travel to other countries have no bearing on the US visa application. Like what I said to Pau, The consular officer will review your documents and evidence of your circumstances to assess how likely you are to return to your point of origin. If they assess that you do not have enough reason to go back to your point of origin, it is unlikely that a visa will be granted. That is why applicants who have stayed longer in their work, have a property or have a family at the point of origin are likely to be granted a visa than a single individual who have very little ties to the country of origin.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Travel to other country have no impact on US visa application. Each US application is assessed based on the documents submitted and answer to the questions asked by the consular officer. Each application have to prove the legitimacy of their reason for travel to the US and to ensure the consular officer that the application will return to the point of origin.

You may be asked for bank statement of your sponsor to demonstrate their capability support your visit. That is in addition to the invitation letter and passport copy or any other copy of identification showing their residence status in the US.

Hi ms Sheila I’m just asking po if what is the document they need in US embassy in Abu Dhabi cuz my girl friend want to visit me here in Chicago can I know ms Sheila… thanks😊😊
Alvin | AB&Me says
Required document should be the same, however, if she is applying in Abu Dhabi, her residence visa in UAE should be from Abu Dhabi.
Specific document required is listed here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-AE/niv/information/required_docs

Hi Sheila, I love how your blog is clear and vivid 🙂
I just want to ask, what are the supporting documents needed when applying a visit visa into the US?
My boyfriend and I wants to see each other and take every step for our relationship to make it even better.
I am thinking of maybe, he could do an affidavit that he is inviting me and I have a place to sleep during my stay that I do not have to worry about my expenses.
Also, with a bank statement, I would like to know if you have to hold a certain amount and keep it there till you finally have your visa.
Thank you Sheila 🙂
Would really appreciate all the help and support from you :))
Alvin | AB&Me says
Required documents are listed here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-AE/niv/information/required_docs
If you will indicate in your application that you will stay with your boy friend, you may be required to submit an invitation from him and if will be supporting you during your travel, you may also be required to provide his bank statement to prove that he has the capability to support you.
For your bank statement, it doesn’t necessarily have to have a certain amount at the time of application, however, you may be required to to show capability to support your visit at the time of entry.

Good day! This post has been very helpful to me as I fill the form. I am a little bit skeptical about my application. I am planning to visit the U.S on September 2017 to see my sister (who I haven’t seen for 3 years), I am based here in Abu Dhabi as a Nurse with 18 months of experience, 26 years old and single. There is no area wherein I could indicate that I am currently taking my master’s here in Abu Dhabi, which would present that I have an intention to go back here and finish it. Another concern is that my residence visa will expire on August 2017, would it be a ground for getting denied, since my travel period is past the expiration? Thank you very much in advance for your response and more power to this blog website.
Alvin | AB&Me says
You don’t have to indicate that you are taking your masters degree as it is not be the reason why you have a residence visa here in UAE. You may submit as a supporting document a certificate of enrollment from the institution from where you are taking your masters degree in addition to the certificate of employment.
Your application will be based on your current situation, even if your visa is expiring in August/2017, however if you do get a visa and do not renew your residency here in UAE, you may be denied entry to USA because of the change in your circumstance.

Hi Ms. Sheila, I am planning to travel to NYC early next year but my concern is should I have enough funds in my Bank accounts even my BF (from there)will shoulder all my expenses? Been here in Dubai in the same company for 4 years and been from other ASIAN countries as well, does it count? Please advise. Thanks!
Alvin | AB&Me says
The bank statements are required to show that you have a legal source of income. At the time of application, it doesn’t necessarily have to have a big amount.
You do have to indicate that your BF will support you. You may need to submit copies of his bank statement to show that he has the capability to support your travel.

Hello maam shiela.. gusto ko din sana mag apply for us visa.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Its a common misconception that the account should have money on it at the time of application. The purpose of the bank statement is to support your claim of employment. Ex. If you declare that you are employed your bank statement will show that you have a salary coming in to your account on a regular basis.
Another purpose of it is to determine if there are any illegal activities. Ex. If there is a huge deposits coming into your account, you should be able to explain what it was for.
Just make sure that at the time of your travel, in case you get a visa: that you have enough money to support your expenses.
Marie louise says
Or kahit wala just the bank statement lang? Thank you sir alvin
Alvin | AB&Me says
Its better if there is money in your account, it doesn’t have to be big, at least show that you started saving money for your trip.

You can still apply for a visa before your contract ends. As long as you are able to provide sufficient evidence that you will be leaving the country after your visit/tour there should be no issue at all.

Nicnic, your UAE visa validity will be scrutinized depending on your intended date of return. If the duration of your intended travel will reach to a point that your visa will expire or very close to expiration, your motive for traveling becomes questionable.
Dee says
Hi Ms. Sheila and Mr. Alvin! My husband and I are planning to go to the US on July 2017 to visit my grandmother and sister. We’ve already submitted the DS-160 forms, but we have yet to pay and schedule our appointment because of this concern. Normally, for Schengen visa, it is required that you only apply at least 3 months before departure date. For the non-immigrant US visa, does the same rule apply? Do you think it’s too early if we will schedule our appointment next month (November), which is 8 months away from the planned departure date? Thanks in advance for your help.
Alvin | AB&Me says
As far as I know, you have to make the payment within 10 or 30 days of submitting the application otherwise you will have to start again.
For US it is OK to apply early because they normally grant a longer validity compared to other nations. You are not required to make confirmed booking for your travel or accommodation which is another reason why there is no harm applying for a visa early.
LMR says
Good Morning! My sister is getting married in a civil wedding ceremony this November and she wants me and my bestfriend(close family friend) who live together here in Abu Dhabi to attend. In planning, we agreed that we will be paying for the air tickets and my sister will shoulder the accommodation and other expenses. My question is, do we need to apply for individual visas or do we need to apply together?
Alvin | AB&Me says
You should apply together. If you have not applied yet, it might be too late to get it by November.
LMR says
When you say apply together, what does that mean? We already have a scheduled appointment this 26th of October. ☺
Alvin | AB&Me says
Indicate on each others application that you will be traveling with each other. Submit your applications together and set your appointment together.

Alvin | AB&Me says
If you are travelling together with the same purpose, it is better to apply together. Even if you apply separately the consular staff will still be able to see similarities in you applications and might raise doubt if you apply separately.

Hi po Ms. Shiela, share ko lang po yung experience ko with US consulate last August. I did my interview po last week ng August 8am yung interview ko by 9 tapos na. Na deny po yung visa ko because I have no strong ties po dito sa Dubai. 24 years old po ako nurse sa Pinas pero real estate industry ako dito sa dubai pero 2.5 years pa lng po ako dito. 4 lng po yung questions nila at not even a single document was asked. Common questions like Why do want to visit the US, where in the US do you plan to stay, how long have you been in dubai at last question po nila kung single or married, nung sinabi ko pong single, deny po kaagad. 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
There are several reasons bakit ka na deny. Being single and a nurse (which is very in demand sa US) tapos you are still young and hindi ka pa ganun ka tagal dito sa Dubai. That means you need to wait it out or get married before you apply again for a better shot. But, its still up to you if you want to apply again, malay mo matapat ka sa medyo relaxed na interviewer. 🙂

salamat po sa time.
Sheila | A B & Me says
Hello, there’s no guarantee if you’ll be given visa or not but you can try.
If you have strong ties then there’s no reason to not grant you visa. 🙂

thanks po and goodluck for me 🙂

Hello, need some clarifications on applying US visa.
I’m planning to visit US with the whole family.
My worry is, I’ve been travelling to Iran for at least once a month as my nature of work is in engineering.
Do you think US consulate will grant me a tourist visa?
Thanks.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Even Iranians can get a visa to US, you may apply for a visa, however you will be subject to a more stringent background check.
Marlon says
Thanks Bro.

Hello! Can I apply US visa in Abu dhabi even if my residence visa is in Dubai?
Another question, if asked if I have relatives like until what level? I just remembered by grandfather has a sister in Chicago but she died already so her son lives in there but we have no communication anymore nor I remember his name.
Thanks!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Your proof of residence as indicated in your visa is from Dubai. You will have to apply in Dubai. Do not put contact person/references that you yourself have not been in contact with.

Hi Ms Sheila – I’ll be having my US Visa (B2) interview this 31st August. I’ve been working in DXB for nearly 3 years now, and wishes to visit US by early next year. It was supposed to be before the end of this year, but due to change of plans, I’ve decided to go back for home for short vacation with family(mom and dad).
My travel experiences are only limited in Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia). All of which are with my mom and dad which I paid for.
I’m living with my sister her, and her family.
I hope I have a good chance to have my visa approve.
Whoaaaa
Alvin | AB&Me says
We wish you all the best in your interview. During the interview, our recommendation is to prepare yourself physically and mentally. Eat your breakfast, drink enough water, be ready to wait in the heat so wear a comfortable but professional clothing. Bring something to drink, they do have a kiosk there were you can buy something to drink or eat but you may have to go out of line to buy something. You will be required to leave stuff that you will not need in your application in the security gate including your phone.
Please do let us know how it goes.

Followed all the instructions here on how to apply U.S. visa here in UAE and been re-reading all of the comments a dozen times! haha Finally got my visa approved, It was way easier than expected (you just have to keep your cool & don’t panic! lol) Anyway, Thanks abandme.com & Good luck to all applicants!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Thank you for your encouraging feedback and it is good to know that this blog have been instrumental in your successful visa application. Enjoy your trip.
Sheila | A B & Me says
Yay!! Congrats!
It’s really not that difficult, its just not that easy either coz they’re stricter but documentation-wise, its basically the same for all visa applications.
And yes, keep your cool.

Is their an easier way to apply for a US visa in Dubai?
Sheila | A B & Me says
There is only one way to apply for visa which is already mentioned on the post. Good luck! 🙂

Hi! I just want to clarify some issues regarding my name. My name has ” MA. ” in it and the DS 160 application doesn’t allow you to fill out the form with other characters/punctuation. I am so confused as I’ve read on the US visa application site that all details must match on the details of your passport.
Thank you.
Alvin | AB&Me says
You don’t have to put period “.” it us understood that special characters are not allowed in the application form. If in doubt, you may clarify that with the consular staff at the time of submission.

Please read the article, it contains the link to the required documents.

Hi, was hoping you could tell me where I should put my middle name in the DS 160 form? It only has fields for surname and given name. Did you write your middle name right after your given names (in the same field)? Also, were you guys asked about your education? I was not (though as I was completing the form, an error message appeared on screen, after which a new set of questions were shown so I just ignored the error — now am wondering if details about the applicant’s education is really asked). Many thanks!
Alvin | AB&Me says
Middle name is not required in form. We were not asked about education when we completed the application form back then.
Sofia says
Hi Sir, on the Personal Information 2, I was asked if Im a permanent resident of any country other than the above mentioned (Philippines). I am not sure if the expats in Dubai are considered to have a Permanent residency.
Alvin | AB&Me says
If you have a resident visa, you are considered as permanent resident and indicate yes on the form.
Sofia says
Thank you so much Sir!
nikki says
Sir, on other blogs that i have read, they said to put the middle name after the given name, im so much confused now if i will put the middle name or not since middle name is showing on our passports and it is part of our name.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Putting the middle name in the application has little to do with the possibility of getting a visa. In our case, I did not put any of our middle name in our application but still got the visa. The visa granted did indeed have our middle names printed in it, which they probably read from the passport.
Sofia says
Hi! I would like to clarify something on the DS-160 form about the Home Address, is it the home address where you were born or the current home address where you are living?
Thank you 🙂
Alvin | AB&Me says
In the home address, you have to specify the address of where you are currently living.
Anne says
Hi. Should I have a sponsor or pwedeng wala naman po? May kamaganak din kasi ako doo
Alvin | AB&Me says
You don’t need a sponsor, however you will have to declare them in the application form. You will also have to indicate their contact information if you plan to stay with them.
Karen Jueves says
Hi. Ms. Sheila andito po ako ulit.

Hi Sheila
I will be going for a short term program in a U.S. university and I have already enrolled for the program , i have already paid for the program and my question is in interview do I need to submit the payment reciept towards the program and admission letter ? Is it mandatory and what other document would they ask ? I m here for more than 3 years in a reputed company ? How do you see my case and what are the key points in my case that I need to take care of !!! What document is most important which I should carry with my self apart from confidence and honesty thanks in advance
Sheila | A B & Me says
Hi Andrew.
I suggest bring all related documents to your travel, including receipts and admission letter. This will support you application.
Since you are claiming that you’re going to attend a program, they might ask you about that so better be prepared.
Andrew says
Thanks Shiela , appreciate your response
Nia says
Is it better to tell them that you have relatives in the us or not?
Alvin | AB&Me says
It is better to tell them, even if you don’t, in most cases they will already know. We have one friend who had experienced this, she was asked how is she related to a certain person even when it is not even mentioned in her application.
Kriza says

Hi! I have my B2 us visa interview appointment this Thursday, June 30, 2016. I’ve been reading a lot of reviews about approved and denied and right now it makes me more nervous that I couldn’t get a visa. I’m 28 yo, single and currently working here in Dubai for 1.6 years. I earn low salary, I don’t have a good bank statement but my sister will sponsor my 15 days trip, I have with me all the supporting documents. She’s also single, green card holder, she lives in the US for more than 6 years and working as FA for 4 yrs now. I’d been to Japan as tourist last 2014 for 30 days and last week I got Schengen visa to travel for 15 days which I will use after i spent the other 15 days in the US. My question is, is there a good chance that I can get a visa? thanks
Alvin | AB&Me says
Based on what you stated, you do have a good chance of getting a visa, however the decision lies solely with the consular officer.
As long as you are honest with your intention in going to the US and is a genuine tourist, you stand a good chance.
jujah says
thank you 🙂
Sofia says
Hi! You mentioned that you have been working here in Dubai for 1.6 years. Did you have previous jobs and how long have you been in the UAE? I reckon you are on a 2-year contract? I as well is on a 2-year contract and I have been working for 1.7 years but I’ve been living here for 2.3 years. I am planning to go for interview but I am worried about the validity of my UAE visa since it will expire on 23rd of November this year. I was planning to go to the US in August for 2 weeks for my cousin’s wedding but I am really concern if they are going to issue me a visa because I don’t have ‘at least 6 months’ validity of my visa upon travel and they might think I wont be coming back due to the fact that my visa is expiring after 3 months.
Alvin | AB&Me says
The documents required page does not indicate anything about a specific requirement about validity of residence visa in UAE.
https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-AE/niv/information/required_docs
However, if you think your company will renew your contract, it might be worth to asks them to renew your visa earlier than the expiration date. It is possible to renew residence visa up to 6 months before the expiration.
Nina Dingding says
But then pg mgttry nkong mgfill up ng form ayaw ng ñ.
Alvin | AB&Me says
This is more of an IT question, try to type the character using ALT+164 and this should appear ñ
Some system considers that as a special character and will not allow you to enter as such. In that case just use normal n.
Nina Dingding says
Alvin | AB&Me says
You do not have to specify the visa duration. The Consular officer will decide how long is the validity of the visa that they will grant.
Karen Jueves says
Hi Ms. Sheila. Ang nakalagay lang po is up to present. Does it matter po ba?
Alvin | AB&Me says
The salary and length of service should be indicated, It can be used as a basis to determine your ties to the country of origin.
Ex. If you are less than a year in your company, your end of service benefit is not that important to you which can be deemed as not enough ties.
Karen Jueves says
Ganun po ba. Ang nakalagay lang po sken is yung joining date and up to present. So need ko pong palitan yun Mr Alvin?
Sheila | A B & Me says
“joining date – up to present” is enough as this shows length of stay. kung hindi naka mention yung start date – end date, dun may problema.
However, you need to state your salary. papalitan mo na lang.
Karen Jueves says
At nakalagay din po yung purpose dun kung bat ako nagrequest ng which is “to be used/submitted to US embassy for tourist visa purpose.”
Sheila | A B & Me says
i see no problem. good luck
Alvin | AB&Me says
Yes, if you are not in violation of any company policy, asks for an employment certificate that indicates you salary including all allowances. The number of years you are in company need not be stated if it states the joining date and that you are currently employed.
Karen Jueves says
Thank you. And one more thing po this July pa lang ako magwa one year. Pero naissued yung cert ng June. Would that be a problem po?
Sheila | A B & Me says
issuance of salary certificate does not depend on the length of your stay. Kahit 1 month ka pa lang maiissue naman yung certificate so, no problem.
However, length of service is a factor kung mabibigyan ka ng visa or not, in my opinion.
Good luck. 🙂
Karen Jueves says
Hi Ms. Sheila. No payment po yung nakalagay. What does it mean Ms. Sheila? Thank you.
Alvin | AB&Me says
Can you please clarify, where did you submit the application?
Usually, you can only complete the application form once its done the next step is to pay the application fee. You have 2 options to pay, online via credit/debit card or trough bank deposit.
If you have not paid the application fee, it is unlikely that your application will progress beyond the form completion.
Karen Jueves says
I submitted my application to CEAC(consular electronic application center) and received a mail from them confirming that my application has been successfully submitted. I aaplied from Abu Dhabi btw. Last step sa DS-160 ko po is “SIGN-IN and SUBMIT”. After doing that wala naman po nag-appear regarding application fee.
Karen Jueves says
Now when I tried to schedule for my appointment, they asked for the payment which is $160
Alvin | AB&Me says
Follow the instruction in the email on how to pay the application fee.

Like iphotocopy ko yung visa page nila if ever hihingin nila during the interview?
Thank you po 🙂

It might help if you bring but don’t present documents na hindi naman hinahanap. Mag dala ka lang just in case hanapin.

Hi! Nagtry ako mag fill out ng form at hindi po talaga kasama sa DS160 ang travel history for the last 5 years. 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
yes. just present them your passport as proof. good luck

what do you think there is a possibility that they will approved my visa?
Sheila | A B & Me says
You need to have a valid visa here to apply as far as I know. Also, if your purpose is employment, you need to apply for employment visa and not Tourist.

Ah okay Ma’am But I Have Doubt Because Actually I Received Email From US Immigration And I need To Register For Non Immigrant Visa After i Filled Up The Form I Received Another Email From Them That That Ineed To Pay 300$ Through UNION

Good day Ms. Sheila,
I just want to ask how much time will it take for us visit visa processing? I am currently living here in Abu Dhabi and have been employed for almost 11 months. I am planning to use my annual leave to visit my friends in us. And one more thing, should I asked assistance from any travel agency or will I apply it on my own? Which one is better? Because I don’t have that enough time also. I have already inquire to this agency but they informed me about the fees which is 1500 aed. Kindly please reply regarding this matter. Thank you so much. 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
We did the application on our own. I cannot recommend which is better cos hindi naman namin na experience gumamit ng agency.
Karen Jueves says
If it’s fine Ms. Sheila, how much did it cost you?
And is it the Multiple Entry Visa & 10 years validity?
Sheila | A B & Me says
You may check the website (links mentioned on the blog post https://www.abandme.com/us-visa-application-for-filipinos-in-dubai/) for the fees as they might have changed it already.
Validity of visa depends on the Consul. But we did get 10 years multiple.
Karen Jueves says
Thank you Ms. Sheila. and one more question po, sponsored po ba yung application nyo or kayo lang po tlga? I mean did you provide any documents from your parents to the embassy?
Sheila | A B & Me says
kami lang. no letters from relatives. I did that before (submit a letter from my aunt), hindi naman tinanggap. It’s irrelevant.
Karen Jueves says
Thank you Ms. Sheila. I hope I can contact you anytime pag may any queries po ako. Thanks again. 😉
Karen Jueves says
Hi Ms. Sheila. I’m back. 🙂 May tanong lang po ako. Hinanapan po ba kayo ng birth certificate? Thank you.

no. but bring if you have. better ready than wala kang maipakita.
Karen Jueves says
Thank you Ms. Sheila. How about yung regarding po sa leave? Panu pag hindi pa po approve? 🙂 Good morning.
Sheila | A B & Me says
walang kinalaman ang us consulate sa leave mo and they will not check in any case.

Hi Maam,
Ask pro for some advice and clarification if my idea po kau, Me & my wife po nag apply for B1/B2 tourist visa and we got rejected po di ko po without reason.
VO – Couple:
ask reason for travel – tourism
years in UAE – Xx year
work – position
and finally if may kilala po – None
And VO denied our application without seeing our supporting documents..
Profile : my wife has US D-visa working as an stewardess , Me – work with a reputable company, had travel around 16 countries already –
Any idea y we got denied?
Any advice because I would like to apply again after 1 week only me without my wife since bz sya this coming months all weekdays
Sheila | A B & Me says
Its really hard to know bakit denied. You could have asked but most of the time its lack of ties e. How long have you been in the UAE? how long have you been working in your reputable company?
If wala kilala, did you mention where you will stay? baka kasi since wala kayo kilala, you should have proof that you can afford all the expenses, tickets and accommodation etc.
Again, these are just speculations.
Lou says
Hi Maam,
I am planning to apply today, possible po ba na merong available slots for next week? My UAE visa is due in November. Plan ko po mag attend ng Wedding ng cousin ko this August for 2 weeks. Kaya po kailangan ko mg apply for this month. Thank you po.
Sheila | A B & Me says
I can’t really say. Depende kasi yun sa schedule nila.
Better check with the consulate.
LOREX DE LEON CONTAOI says
Hi Mam,
Thanks,
Alvin | AB&Me says
Both, they need to be able to ascertain that you have a reason to leave the US after your trip may it be in UAE or Philippines.
Kat says
Hi! I just want to know if what you answered in the Form DS-160 for the field: “Q: Are you a permanent resident of a country/region other than your country/region of origin (nationality) indicated above?” was a YES or a NO?
I’m confused if my UAE residence visa is considered or entitles me as a permanent resident here in the UAE since the visa is only for 3 years…
Also, if I am traveling to the USA for a conference, and my stay will be paid for by my company, and I will be going with one of my subordinates (total of 2 people including me), do I have to answer YES in the question where it is asking if I am traveling in a group of family/organization?
Thanks so much!
Alvin | AB&Me says
If you have residence visa in UAE, you have to answer yes. If you are travelling with another person on the same itinerary you have to indicate in your application.

Ms. Sheila,
4 1/2 years din ako sa singapore at nagtravel on and off sa malaysia.
please advise.
salamat in advance.
Sheila | A B & Me says
In my experience walang bearing ang invitation letter at mga chat (dalhin mo lang din but you don’t have to present it kung hindi hinanap).
When asked, just answer truthfully. Your goal is to convince them that you are coming back because of your work in Dubai.
Good luck!
Tess says
Hi Ms. Sheila,
Share ko lang po na nareject po ako uli for 2nd time with the same reason… no sufficient ties here in Dubai. My bf wants to try it again next month in June but this time in Manila. As for him might have a chance or nothing to lose if we tried. Possible din ba na Fiancee visa na apply ko kesa tourist since we have palns namn of getting married. Gusto lang talga nmin magtravel at magkasama during holiday sa US. Sana matulungan nyo ako kahit paano. Thanks.
Sheila | A B & Me says
Kung insufficient ties ang reason kaya ka na deny then you have to work on that so that next time you apply, you have sufficient ties na. This means you have been in the UAE/ Dubai for x number of years, you have been working in your company for x number of years, you have x amount as your salary, you have properties (here or in the PH), etc. If you apply again next month, same result pa din makukuha mo coz wala naman nagbago sa estado mo, right?
If you really want, try fiance visa na nga lang. Yun wala naman mawawala. Coz if you try tourist, may mawawala for sure, yung binayad mo. 🙂
Good luck.

i am planning to apply for a tourist visa, maximum 30 days stay as i cannot go beyond that for a vacation, however, i am hesitant as i had a case with one of the local bank here in Dubai two years back and it was already cleared.
will it be a problem for me?
also, is there a minimum fund requirement (money in the bank) and if so, how much?
appreciate your help.
thank you sis!
tc 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
If your case has been cleared already then I don’t see any problem. Just make sure you bring all supporting documents to prove that 1 – you have strong ties to the UAE (you work and live here) 2 – you do not have any plans on staying in the US illegally.
As for funds, just make sure you can justify your stay.
Annyeong says
Hi Ms. Sheila,
I applied last 2012 and was rejected (That time same with your case I was new hired in my company and 2 years only in UAE). I remembered that the interviewer didn’t even asked me to show my documents and she only asked me some questions…. and the last question was what are the countries I have visited? ( That time the only country I’ve been to was SG only) The interviewer told me if I will try again next time maybe they will consider if I can show them some other countries.
I’m planning to apply again and set an appointment this coming May (my vacation plan is June…30 days). I’m 6 years now in UAE and 4 years in my company….last 2014 I went to Thailand and last 2015 I went to Europe (Netherlands/France/Belgium). My family friends will send me an invitation letter (as supporting docs in case).
In your 2nd time attempt what are the questions did you encounter? Do you think I have points if I will apply this time? Roughly how much should I keep in my bank?
I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon!
Thank you 🙂
Alvin | AB&Me says
I think you have a better chance now considering the length of your stay in the UAE and your company. There is still no way of knowing for sure tho. Just go to your appointed date with all your documents and lots of confidence. You need to show/convince the interviewer that you will be coming back to Dubai. As for the bank, I guess it depends coz you need to show that you can support yourself whilst vacationing. Good luck!

hi Shiela!
Sheila | A B & Me says
They need to be convinced na babalik ka dito at hindi ka mag over stay doon. Meron akong UK visa noon pero na deny pa din ako so I am speaking from experience.
There is no way to know but to try. Good luck

Thanks for this very informative blog. I’m wondering if I will qualify to apply for a tourist visa. I’m an engineer currently working for Etisalat for a year an half now. Married with 1 Kid. I have friends in the US who I would like to visit. Papasa kaya ako? if ever makapasa will it be a one time entry or multiple? Salamat
Sheila | A B & Me says
Everyone is qualified (unless you have prior records) so you just need to try. Nasa consul yun if they will give you single or multiple. good luck

You will need to show that you have the capability to support your expenses during your Intended Length of Stay in U.S.

Thank you in advance.

US citizen naman yung fiance mo, so I’m sure masasagot yang mga tanong nyo.

And is it possible na yung tita ko na nasa USA ang mag apply online for me? At yung ticket ko po, Proof na po ba yan sa kanila na hindi ako mag overstay or mag tnt sa US? Its more than 10yrs narin po kasi kami d nagkikitakita. Godbless!❤
Sheila | A B & Me says
I think you need to apply from here po. No harm in trying naman po. Good luck!

Sheila | A B & Me says
I think po ganun ang kailangan gawin. Kasi kung wala ka kakilala dun at purely tourism purpose mo to travel, you have to prove na meron ka pupuntahan.
You might have to provide a booking reference (as supporting document once may interview ka)

Hi Ms. Shiela,
I am planning to apply for a US visit visa. However, I don’t think I have established strong ties here in the UAE since it has been just a year when I got here. Is applying in the Philippines would be a better option even if I am based here in UAE?
Any response is highly appreciated.
Sheila | A B & Me says
You still need to prove strong ties to the Philippines in that case … you might be asked about your job, any assets? have you traveled?
I really cannot advise you on this as I am not an expert and these are all just based on my experience.
There is no harm in trying, Sam. Just go for it and if you don’t get the result you want, then at least you have experience on how to apply already and you can improve for the next time you apply.
Hope that helps! Good luck.
sam says
Hi again, thanks for the response. Yes I have travelled most of the Schengen countries just recently. But I don’t have sumptuous assets to show off. Argh, anyway yeah you’re right, there is no harm in trying. Thanks btw! 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
Hi Sam, if you’ve just recently travelled then you might stand a chance getting a US visa since this shows that you have no intention of leaving Dubai.
Try and let me know! 🙂

Hi dear, I JUST WANT TO ASK..BECAUSE I HAVE PLAN TO APPLY A TOURIST U.S VISA. my friend invited me to come to visit in there place for just days. Because I REALLY WANTED TO SEE AMERICA that is why they going to help me just to visit there place, they will cover all my expenses during my trip everything. I have a job here in Dubai but i got a 4000aed salary. I just want to ask if there is a chance to pass the interview even if my salary is just 4k only. I don’t have much money also on my bank account. That is my big problem and worry so much about my bank statement and for my salary. What should i do?
Sheila | A B & Me says
I see no reason for you to worry kung may work ka naman dito and your husband is here — that shows ties to the country you are in, you have family here, you have work here, meaning babalik ka.
regarding your visa/passport, as long as valid sila sa dates ng travel mo walang problema. You may also ask sa consulate since I am not an expert on these matters.
Thanks!

God bless you po. ❤️????????????????????????
Sheila | A B & Me says
After pa po ba? Or pwede po anytime?
Sheila | A B & Me says
Dati kasi may 6 months waiting period.
God bless and merry christmas po.

Hi, tanong ko lang po. Kailangan po ba na may previous travel before going to US? I’m also living here in Dubai, just new but next year will be my 1st yr. I am now planning to apply for a US Visit Visa on July because they said you need to apply 4 months before the intended travel. Just want to have 1 month vacation in California and my friends are inviting me, they will provide an invitation that they will cover the expenses for my tour and I have the strong tie here in Dubai, coz I have family, work, and I can also give 6 months bank statement. But still confused and praying to have the visa 😕 Is there any amount required for bank statement? Thank you
Sheila | A B & Me says
Previous travel is not in the list of required documents. But it helps because proof yun na bumabalik ka. In my experience (and this might be different from yours so don’t take this as the rule), length of stay/service in the UAE is important. You have to establish strong ties. Also, supporting letters from friends and relatives doesn’t necessarily work.
There is no required amount — you need to establish that you can afford to travel and that depends on you.
Good luck.
Devie says
Hi mam
May tanong po sana ako gusto po namin magpunta sa us as tourist asa Dubai rin po ako nag wowork sa hotel what if naka kuha na kami ng visa pero let say mag resresign rin ako sa company makaka alis parin ba kami ang balak po nmin is one way ticket lang tas yung pauwi sa pinas na posble po kaya un?
Sheila | A B & Me says
As long as may visa ka na, makaka alis ka. Pero pag dating mo sa US kailangan mo i prove pa na aalis ka din sa bansa nila (return ticket) dahil baka ma airport to airport ka lang kung ganun.
Basta may maipapakita kang proof na aalis ka at makoconvince mo sila na hindi ka mag stay dun illegally, I don’t see any problem. Pero, don’t take my advise as gospel truth … I am not an expert.
Good luck.

Hi miss shella…I want to ask something…my american friend invite me to travel in USA then I completing my application and got my appointment date and I completely collecting my supporting docs.including noc letter from my company and on that letter its written my salary 7000aed and length of my stay in USA 3 months….coz my American friend support all my expenses when I get there…so my question is .
…it is possible or have chance to get visa in USA?there is a chance to approve or refuse? Actually I working in Dubai more than 2 years…and my friend visit me in dubai and want me to be with them during their date of flight going back in USA..and on my appointment he is with me to help me…I have invitation letter o him have passport copy and their ticket going back in USA.
Sheila | A B & Me says
there is no way to know for sure if you will be approved or not. You need to convince the consul that you will be coming back to Dubai. They might ask you why stay for 3 months in the US? Don’t you have work? What kind of company will let an employee go for three months? — you might have to think about those.
Also, I am not sure if they will allow your friend to accompany you inside just to help you with your interview. In any case, good luck with your application.

Hi! Ms. Sheila…
hope you’re doin’ great! 🙂 i was reading all the comments and your answers to those queries and i found it so informative and helpful. actually i know that you cannot establish if one peson will get approved or not for a US Visa but i just wanted to know if theres any HOPE to get a US Visa after denial the first time 🙁
i did apply for tourist Visa last March, and got denied! the VO told me that i haven’t travel to any country yet which Yes.. then, just recently Me and My fiance travelled to Singapore and Malaysia for our vacation and for the STAMP purpose for me as well. and i applied again for the second time my interview will be on October 25, 2015. and so NERVOUS that will be rejected again. 🙁 “God Help Me”
Do you think, how much chances that i will be approved? Just really wanted to share this.. LOL 😀
I’ve been in Dubai for almost 8 years have a good job and Salary. Can’t apply for a Fiance Visa for now co’z of the Annullment issue w/ my Ex. I would love to visit the US and to meet his family. please pray for me.. 🙂
Thank you, and More power to you and to your Blog!!
Elcee 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
Hi Elcee, of course there’s always a chance. I, myself, got denied 3 times before I was granted visa. As long as you established enough ties to your host country (good job, salary) and that you are not a risk to “overstay” in the US then I guess you’re good.
Let’s think positive and hope for the best. good luck and let me know how it goes! 🙂
Elcee says
Hi again Ms. Sheila,
When they denied you for a Visa, what reasons did they told you and how you cope up with all of that?? now I’m afraid 🙁 might be denied again, maybe they will think that i will get married there since that i’ve told them that i will be visiting my boyfreind and his family for the Holidays.
Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience too 🙂 . Sure i will let you know if i will be one lucky girl to get the Visa or Unlucky One.. THINK POSITIVE!!!! 🙂
great Day!!
Elcee 🙂
Sheila | A B & Me says
The reason I got was “insufficient ties” with host country … I was relatively new in UAE and I have just transferred to a new job then so I couldn’t establish good and stable connections. How did I cope? well, to be honest, I got depressed. I accepted the fact that I will not be able to visit my family in the US so I travelled elsewhere. It took me years before I got the guts to try again. 🙂
You just need to establish that you will not overstay in the US. Even if you get married there, you still need to leave and reapply proper documentation.
elcee says
Hi Ms. Sheila 🙂
hope you’re having a great day, i just want to update you what happened to my last interview, sadly to tell you that i was denied again for the second time 🙁 the reason she said was i am barely new to my current job which is im working for 2 years already. im not really sure how long you should be in a job before they grant you the golden “US VISA”.. 🙁 i am upset but i need to accept, better luck next time as i’ve said to my self. i didn’t tell him (my fiance) that i applied for it co’z i don’t want him to be upset again. anyway, i will try again next year hopefully april or may 🙂 . i will surely update you if when i will get it. LOL wish it will be soon soon.
Cheers! and Take care!
Elcee 🙂

…and also, Sometimes here in Dubai, the job title placed in the employment contract is not entirely what you do at work. Is it okay to state to tell what you do at work or is it really advisable to just follow whatever written in the contract? sorry, too many questions. 🙂
A B & Me says
Hi Ishi,
Just fill up your form truthfully and if they ask you during your interview, you can then elaborate re: your job. As for the letter of invitation, in my experience, it does not work. They don’t care if you have been invited by friends or even relative (again, I am stating this based on experience. I did the same thing before – submitted letter of invitation along with supporting documents – and I still got rejected).
What would help you is the fact that you do not have any plans in staying long. You should highlight that you will only stay for a short period because you have to go back to work.
Good luck!

Now I stumbled upon your blog again on how to apply for US visa. I am also a Filipino working in Dubai for 3 and a half years now. Recently my friend who is in US wants me to get as their personal videographer for their wedding there. (Although i dont know if that’s okay to tell them or is it better to just say will be there for a short vacation). My friends in the US will provide me letter of invitation as well as my ticket and stay for the whole time i am there. Would it be okay to state that my stay will be just 5 days since i have to get back here for work? You think stating the 5 day stay and the letter of invitation would stand as a leverage at least on the possibility of not being rejected?

Hi Miss Sheila. How are you? I am Filipino also planning to apply for a US tourist visa next year. I have some doubts if they will grant me a visa since I just got here in UAE like a year ago. Do you think it would be a good idea to apply even just I stayed here for at least a year? Also, if it’s not too much to ask, how much money you think they require for the bank statement? Thanks in advance.
A B & Me says
Hi, if you are asking for my advice, and this is based on my experience only, better to wait till you have established your ties with the UAE (stable job, steady income, investments, assets like car and apartment will help). As for the money, there is no specific amount required. You need to establish that you can sustain the expenses for your trip. The longer you stay there, the bigger amount you need to show.
HOWEVER, you can still try even if you have only stayed here for one year… there are other factors to consider anyway (like salary, company status etc). Good luck.
nald says
Thank you!
gaile says
hi,, i would like to ask what document is needed showing that you have a car in Dubai and investments such as? thank you.

That documents are not required in general, however it does show that you have sufficient ties here in Dubai. In my personal opinion copy of the RTA registration should be enough as proof of ownership, however you may also obtain a certificate of possession from RTA but you have to pay for it. I think it can also be requested online.
As for the investment, it will depend on the type of investment. If you are a business partner, a copy of the trade license with the official stamp can be an evidence of partnership.

hi, i am currently in dubai and i need your advice on how to get a visa going US, what are the documents they need and what is the possibility thag they might denied my visa. Is your mom is an immigrant in US? please need your ideas and advice. thanks
A B & Me says
Hi. The required documents are already mentioned on my post. Just click on the links for further info.
I cannot confirm what is the possibility for visa denial. But as far as I know, you need to establish sufficient ties in the UAE (that you work here and you will come back).

Thank you Ms. Shiela, will try to browse those documents. Thanks this helps.

Hello,
I am curious: do you happen to have a Dubai residency card? I am on a tourist visa in Dubai, and wondering whether I can apply as a non-resident of Dubai.
A B & Me says
Hi. I have Dubai residence. You should contact the consulate for this query. I believe you have to apply from where you live as you need to establish ties with that country.

Thanks so much!

This is very helpful information! However, I want some clarification. Are you still a Filipino citizen living in Dubai when you applied for a US visa?
thank you for your help!
A B & Me says

Hi ms. Sheila..
I would like to ask some info. i am planning to visit my uncle in america. My aunt passed away last 2014 and there are some jewelries that my uncle wants me to have it. As it is valuable. He will provife my round trip ticket and all expences. I am working here in dubai for almost 8 yrs now. But im new here in my company about 4 months im working here. do i need those 6 months money in the bank? My uncle will provide everything. i am a bit confused. Please help me..
Thank you!
Regards Mary
Alvin | AB&Me says
It is a common misconception that there should be money indicated in the bank statement when submitting for visa application. The reason statements are being required is to validate that you do have a source of income and that it does tally with what is certified by your company. But, of course you will still need to prove that you have enough funds to support your travel and expenses.
Having worked for your company for only 4 months means that your end of service benefit is none or not significant to make you return to your job. Which may have an impact on the approval of your application. You might be asked, why don’t your uncle come here and give your inheritance to you?
Do you have family here in UAE? That may help your application if you are not travelling with them because it means that you have a reason to come back here.
Immigration officials have to make sure that applicants for visit or tourist visa are genuine tourist/visitors and that they do not have intentions other than what is indicated in the application.

Hi. Good day. I just want to ask how much time will it take for the us visit visa processing?
Sheila | A B & Me says
Hi, we started our application on September 21 and we received our visas October 16. So that’s about 26 days from the time of submitting the application to getting our actual visas.
If I remember correctly, getting the appointment took some time kaya tumagal.
Renie says
hi Ms sheila,
ask ko lang po kung cancelled visa or tourist visa can get US Visa? TOTOO na required ang residence visa in the UAE. to get US Visa…may rason ba kung ma deny ako if ever na wala akong residence sa UAE?
Sheila | A B & Me says
You need to have residence visa where you are applying from. Kung dito, kailangan mo residence visa. Pwede ka mag apply sa Pinas.
For sure madedeny ka kung wala kang residence dito dahil it means wala kang trabaho dito. Wala kang income to support your travels.
Renie says
Alvin | AB&Me says
You attempt to apply, however I would give you an example, at the time of our interview, there is one applicant whose residence visa is from Abu Dhabi. He was told to apply in Abu Dhabi and that his payment will not be refunded. He will have to schedule a new appointment for Abu Dhabi.
In your case, it is even more difficult because you don’t even have a residence visa.
Sheila | A B & Me says

Hi, I have checked the required documents I am confused for the additional documents required.
Aside from the DS-160 application, passport, photo , 6mos. bank statement, NOC from the employer,..
I have few questions ….
— > there is also this ” current trade license and audited financial statement, do I need that? or that is for the owner of the business?
—> property deeds? should I need this one as well?
—> current invitation letter? what if I don’t have this?
I found this all required documents to this site of US Consulate: http://dubai.usconsulate.gov/apply_visa_step6.html
Regards,
A B & Me says
Hi TMY,
I think those other requirements are for 1. business owners and 2. persons going for conferences in the US.
Property deeds is if you have any property here (or from your country own country, assuming that you are an expat in Dubai)
You can check with the consulate to be sure. I am not the expert. 🙂
TMY says
Hi, I applied with US consulate last August 7, 2016 but I was DENIED!
They asked me questions BUT I was denied. They look at my passport and saw all the travel stamps and Visa, yet I was denied.
I have been to many countries and that doesn’t count for them to grant you a visa.
Also one filipino applicant infront/ ahead of me, while we were talking on the line queue , he showed he has an Invitation letter from his Uncle and he travelled to many countries as well, BUT he was also DENIED. I saw it by the white paper given to him.
Questions were:
1. you have been to Germany and other countries?,…
2. why do you want to visit USA?
3. How many days?
4. How long have you been working in the UAE?
5. Are you married?
6. Do you have kids?
and then: the officer said- SORRY we CANNOT grant you a visa!
Alvin | AB&Me says
We are sorry that you got denied a visa.
Did it indicate why? An invitation does not guarantee visa application approval. The decision is based on the merits of the application and the legitimacy of the reason why a visa is requested in the first place. If something is even a little bit questionable in the application details it can be a reason for denial.
The denial normally indicates why but they are not required to do so.

HI TMY,

Hi i am apply us visa last april 11 i was denied they ask me why i stay in 3 year in US before. May visa before is 3year. Im working for seasonal so every 6month i have may petiton so i decided to stay. But before expried i return. Now i have may petition again i want to apply again but i dont know if will be granted?
Alvin | AB&Me says
Its very likely that the same history will again impact your application. Having stayed in US every six months at a time could have meant that you are working during that time.

Hi,
I am planning to visit South America with my colleague, I just filled up my visa application form (DS-160) but I notice that my application is differ from my colleague, I am from Philippines and She is from China, in my application the previous employer, education and previous travel doesn’t, but for her those questions shows, as you are also from Philippines I would like to know if it is the same with your application? (Employer / Education/ Previous Travel) was not required).
Thanks.
A B & Me says
Hi Leanne,
Where in South America are you going?
As for your question, I filled in this form: https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/
However, this visa application is for USA, I don’t think this is the kind of visa you need. You need to apply for visa depending on which country in south America you are going to.
Good luck!
jocelyn says
i denied can i apply again..tommorrow i was denied last november 2 in abudhabi.
Sheila | A B & Me says
I’m not sure how early you can reapply. Last time I got denied they told me to wait 6 months before reapplying. I waited for 10 years. hehe.
You might need to establish more ties in the UAE or prove that you have a stable job?
Marjorie says
hi sheila can i ask if can i apply usa tourist visa while im just only a tourist here in dubai, my tourist visa will expire this coming march 10. what is the requirements of the application to apply?
Sheila | A B & Me says
I think you need to be a resident here for you to be granted visa from here. Kindly check with the US embassy. Thanks
Hans says
Dear Ms. Sheila,
I am planning to apply a tourist visa to US, is it mandatory to present an invitation letter from my relatives in US to submit during the interview? or possible po na walang invitation?
Thank you
Hans
Alvin | AB&Me says
Its not mandatory to have an invitation letter, however if you are planning to stay with a relative or a friend an invitation will support that during application.

Hi
I am planning to apply us visit visa what are my chance I am working in Dubai for 11 years in Real Estate Company and salary of 4000/- + allowance but my company transfer only my basis salary 4000/- in my account
can you please advise me what are the document require ?
Alvin | AB&Me says
Supporting documents required are listed here https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-AE/niv/information/required_docs
If your supporting documents can prove that you have the means and is a ligitimate visitor, you have a good chance of getting a visa.
